By Karel C. Ancona — The Greenhouse Project’s Mother’s Day Plant Sale festivities are happening Saturday, May 10 from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Green Central, located on Carson High School’s campus in Carson City, 1111 North Saliman.
The array of annuals, perrenials, vegetables and native plants for landscaping, are grown by TGP staff, AmeriCorps and CHS students using organic practices and focused on soil health.
Vendors will be on hand with items suitable for gift-giving and many with an emphasis on gardening, garden art and nature. There will also be facepainting for the children (of any age) and a raffle. The popular Build Your Own Basket for Mom also makes a return. Select a basket and fill it with your choice of items to create a unique, one-of-a-kind gift for Mom.
The plant sale is one of two fundraisers TGP hosts each year. Every dollar goes back into the program of educating students and providing fresh produce that is distributed to our community’s food insecure.
To shop online, visit TGP’s Shopify www.ccgreenhouseproject.myshopify.com. Pick up for online sales are Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. or Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m.
