Sharing a quick video of my flowering lawn here in Northeast Ohio (Zone 6a–7b), now in its third spring.

I replaced my old, weed-infested lawn in fall 2022 using the Fleur de Lawn mix from Pro Time Lawn Seed. I was aiming for a low-maintenance, low-mow option with hardy flowering plants that could handle our winters, native species weren’t my main focus.

A year after seeding, I added over 5,000 spring-flowering bulbs. Note to self: next time, plant the bulbs before seeding! I used a bulb auger on a cordless drill, which made the job quick but left lots of bare spots.

Last year, the lawn got minimal attention (I did noting but cut the lawn three times) and a summer drought didn’t help. This spring, I over-seeded with more of the same mix, and I’m really pleased with how it’s filling in. I mow only a walking path and let the rest grow naturally.

The mix includes English daisies, white yarrow, clover, and grasses. So far, the daisies and yarrow are the dominant performers. The yarrow, with its dense, fern-like foliage, especially thrives in the sunniest areas.

Check out the video to see how it’s coming along!

It’s beautiful, looks like a spot you would want for portrait pictures. Pastoral.

  2. Thanks so much, I appreciate your comment! It’s a very small lawn but it does offer a big view.
