Hi all! Posting this for my mom. First we were hoping to finally get an answer on what exactly it is because IDing is hard. I’m an epipremnum girl myself, not a philodendron expert. She got this plant from her mom roughly 20 years ago and it has never been repotted. It’s in a pot that is spectacularly small but she’s scared to repot because it’s survived fine this long and she REALLY doesn’t want to kill it. Last photo is one of its newer leaves. She’s worried the color is too yellow and that it’s a sign of stress but I believe it’s just the color of its new leaves. Please help! Thank you all!

Is there even any soil left in the pot? I can’t tell from photos but I’d say yes repot! Fresh soil is always good

I don’t know how to link to the sub but, that’s a Thaumatphyllum!

  3. oh my god how is it still alive, and not even looking too bad.

Thaumatophyllum xanadu, definitely repot but be careful not to really disturb the roots, that’s a longgg time they’ve been like that. It’ll thank you for the nutrients and space to grow. Cut off anything dead.

Thaumatophyllum!! This thing needs some soil baddddddd. Definitely repot, it’ll be okay. I’d say these are pretty hard to kill. My mom has 2 that she knows nothing about, but brings them outside in the spring on our porch with bright, indirect sunlight, and they come back looking healthy very quickly!

Honestly it’s a very hardy plant. Repot it, give it a pole, new leaves will be much bigger.
