I got this monster for free and I want to know if I can save it. It's leaves are in rough shape and the aerials I've seen feel dry. I know it got watered before I took it home but not sure about before then, the soil is currently damp. It was living in some form of greenhouse according to the person who passed it off to me. Right now it's in my garage (so no light atm) until I can deal with the gnats it's hosting so my other plants don't get them. What can I do to save it if anything? I want to put it in a different pot if anyone thinks that would help. TIA!

I believe yes, I would start with submerging the root, growing out of the only green leaf in a small amount of water, letting it grow some roots, then transplant it to the correct size of pot (small) and you can look up tips for transplanting and proper acclimation from water to soil

Absolutely yes, not dead yet !!! Consider a rectangular shaped planter like an earth box, that will accommodate the main stem. Putting the entire stem laying down will encourage root growth from node area. She looks like she desperately needs new root growth, and all will be back to normal! Leave the yellowing leaves on the plant, it will continue to absorb all the energy and nutrients from those leaves to form new growth. A 5-5-5 fertilizer, or even a 10-10-10 fertilizer would help dramatically right now if you have any laying around.

I would like to add, putting it down in the earth box would be a temporary solution (maybe 2-3 months) until it has regained a healthy sized root structure. Once she’s ready, you can repot and put it up on a moss pole and enjoy a big beefy mature monstera.

I’m not an expert but this looks like a large form Monstera, which is a crawling plant, not climbing. The way it’s potted now is sideways.

Yes don’t Roy. I wouldn’t move a thing. I would give a liquid feed and sort my regular watering so all soil is moist. TLC do t repot and fuss it about as it is weak.
