Bunny Guinness talked about magnolias, she mentioned magnolia x loebneri to be better at holding flowers in freeze. Got it, plant it. This year it was flowering its head off. Beautiful. Old mangolia froze as usual and x loebneri flowers did not freeze just few feet away.
Could you plant dahlias in your flower beds along with your perenials, I have them in my mixed borders and just leave them in the ground each year. If they don't come back, something else takes their place xx
I think we all have 'that' dog, the one that bonds so well with us and our family that it is hard to believe another creature could fill that void… I feel that! My little boy in my PFP lived to fourteen…. That's an eternity too short, for me. He was perfect. 😭😭😭😭
Never let it be said you don’t feed your bees! There is just something so satisfying about getting rid of dandelions. Your lawns are perfection with a little TLC and Aaron’s regular care.
Happy Mother's Day! ❤ 🎉 ❤ Thank you so very much for all you do. 😊 My life in gardening has been so enhanced by watching you develop your property. I so enjoy the network of friends and family I share the job of gardening with. Many of them have watched your videos as well. ❤️❤️❤️
Let me start by saying I too love a clean green grass lawn and ensure that I have tons of pollinator favorites so dandelions have to go. I just had to share this, which you may have already seen, but thought you could appreciate it. And Happy Mother's day!
GOD to ST. FRANCIS:
Frank, … you know all about gardens and nature. What in the world is going on down there on the planet? What happened to the dandelions, violets, milkweeds and stuff I started eons ago? I had a perfect no-maintenance garden plan. Those plants grow in any type of soil, withstand drought and multiply with abandon. The nectar from the long-lasting blossoms attracts butterflies, honey bees and flocks of songbirds. I expected to see a vast garden of colours by now. But, all I see are these green rectangles.
St. FRANCIS:
It's the tribes that settled there, Lord. The Suburbanites. They started calling your flowers 'weeds' and went to great lengths to kill them and replace them with grass.
GOD:
Grass? But, it's so boring. It's not colourful. It doesn't attract butterflies, birds and bees; only grubs and sod worms. It's sensitive to temperatures. Do these Suburbanites really want all that grass growing there?
ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently so, Lord. They go to great pains to grow it and keep it green. They begin each spring by fertilizing grass and poisoning any other plant that crops up in the lawn.
GOD:
The spring rains and warm weather probably make grass grow really fast. That must make the Suburbanites happy.
ST. FRANCIS:
Apparently not, Lord. As soon as it grows a little, they cut it-sometimes twice a week.
GOD:
They cut it? Do they then bale it like hay?
ST. FRANCIS:
Not exactly, Lord. Most of them rake it up and put it in bags.
GOD:
They bag it? Why? Is it a cash crop? Do they sell it?
ST. FRANCIS:
No, Sir, just the opposite. They pay to throw it away.
GOD:
Now, let me get this straight. They fertilize grass so it will grow. And, when it does grow, they cut it off and pay to throw it away?
ST. FRANCIS:
Yes, Sir.
GOD:
These Suburbanites must be relieved in the summer when we cut back on the rain and turn up the heat. That surely slows the growth and saves them a lot of work.
ST. FRANCIS:
You aren't going to believe this, Lord. When the grass stops growing so fast, they drag out hoses and pay more money to water it, so they can continue to mow it and pay to get rid of it.
GOD:
What nonsense. At least they kept some of the trees. That was a sheer stroke of genius, if I do say so myself. The trees grow leaves in the spring to provide beauty and shade in the summer. In the autumn, they fall to the ground and form a natural blanket to keep moisture in the soil and protect the trees and bushes. It's a natural cycle of life.
ST. FRANCIS:
You better sit down, Lord. The Suburbanites have drawn a new circle. As soon as the leaves fall, they rake them into great piles and pay to have them hauled away.
GOD:
No!? What do they do to protect the shrub and tree roots in the winter to keep the soil moist and loose?
ST. FRANCIS:
After throwing away the leaves, they go out and buy something which they call mulch. They haul it home and spread it around in place of the leaves.
GOD:
And where do they get this mulch?
ST. FRANCIS:
They cut down trees and grind them up to make the mulch.
GOD:
Enough! I don't want to think about this anymore. St. Catherine, you're in charge of the arts. What movie have you scheduled for us tonight?
ST. CATHERINE:
“Dumb and Dumber”, Lord. It's a story about….
GOD:
Never mind, I think I just heard the whole story from St. Francis.
I love sweet bay magnolia. Blooms later (summer?) and nicely fragrant. Also good for area where light shade is desired. Love the recaps and glad you’re both feeling better!
I forgot that I have a question about grafted roses. I bought a grafted weeks rose (AllDressed up), I trimmed it in February and all the branches turned black.pruners were clean and none of my other roses had this. It’s now pushing a lot of growth from below the dirt so I am assuming the graft didn’t make it and this is a mutt rose pushing growth?
Aron here Spartanburg South Carolina we have adopt a road.and organizations, businesses, schools etc.plant the sidewalks in neighborhoods and mediums of roads and it has been great.maybe it would work for your area.❤
Happy Mother's Day Laura! Hope you're enjoying your wonderful family together with Aaron, Benjamin and Samantha doing something relaxing and fun just for you.
Omgosh Tessa looks so much like my Lita! My girl is also the best and it will be a very hard, sad time here when we lose her someday. She turns 7 this year. ❤
Grace is the biggest scam! There are people waiting to get their roses for years! The only order I placed with her was late over a month and this was after me emailing them almost everyday just to receive dead roses. She also promised all the potted roses will have two per container, not mine and like I said mine arrived dead. And if you ever comment anything on her group and is not to her liking you get banned.
Oooooh….I made trip to your parents nursery last year, bought a rose, and put it in the same place the rose was that died in my yard. Wow! Oh my … The myth may be true!
Happy mother’s day to you and both your moms. Our town is called the city of trees. the big overgrown tree across the street used to hide all their stuff but unfortunately it got cut down because it was diseased now we see too much. oh well everyone have a wonderful mothers day
Welcome back Aaron for an informative & interesting – as usual – recap. Thank you for helping the church by planting trees! My favorite part was the flashback of Susan's cat pawing at Laura's head, ha.
I appreciated your video on dandelion spraying to learn that there is an organic spray that works. There are way too many dandelions on this farm to pull by hand.
Since you have changed the cut flower garden into a formal Garden could you just do some rows for cutting in the dirt lands or along the top of the hill at the back of the property?

Do you have the Bonide Tree drench for trees in your store?
Whatever happened to your rusty arbor that was in the triangle garden? Laura loved it and Aaron hated it!😂

I should order plants. Springtime we visit all the garden centres around. Never leave empty handed. lol. I have a small city yard
Why can't people just enjoy your videos like I do what. And keep their opinions to themselves.
Best dogs we’ve had with kids…cockapoo. No shedding, love children and people, not yip-y and so loving.
Happy Mother’s Day, Laura! And to the rest of the moms out there! 🌺
YES! With age we women become more emboldened! Perhaps not all, but a large majority of us.
Laura…being you is just fine. Even better be more like your mom😂😂 love her! Happy Mother's day ❤
Happy Mother's Day! 💐 Shout-out from SW Georgia.😊
Dandelion should be an option whether or not to remove. I don’t understand the what’s the problem. 🤔

I can’t help but ask…why the duck tape on your mug?😂
I bought 2 roses from heirloom roses recently. They arrived and were perfect. Just in case anyone wanted that information. 😊
We now have a tree foundation in my city and their mission is to get trees planted in the areas that have a low canopy.
Happy Mothers Day to Laura, Susan and all the mothers that follow Garden Answers.

"sometimes 6 inches makes the difference"
While aging has it problems, it’s also liberating 🤣
Oh for Pete’s sake, people need to chill out! Have you seen her garden?! More pollinators than an entire park!
Happy Mother's Day to you and your mom
How is your sister's Garden looking!! Could we get a tour soon as everything is in its 2nd or 3rd year now, right?
I bet it's really coming along😊
I appreciated your video on dandelion spraying to learn that there is an organic spray that works. There are way too many dandelions on this farm to pull by hand.
