Unstoppable Gardening. He’s going to be talking about container gardening, growing nutritionally dense food. We are so glad to have Spencer Scott here and I’d like to invite you up, Mr. Scott, and we’d like to have you tell us a little bit about yourself and uh where you got your start and then tell us what you want us to know today. And let’s start with a word of prayer. Dear heavenly father, we just praise the holy name of Jesus. We are here to serve you and to learn what you want us to know for the end times so that we can be ready for your soon coming. We ask you to prepare our hearts and our minds to cleanse us of our sins. We ask that you’ll come into our hearts and purge uh anything that is clinging to this world. This world is not our home. Heaven is our home. and we just ask you to um separate us from anything that would separate us from you and bless this camp meeting. Pour out the Holy Spirit here. We thank you so much for bringing all these wonderful speakers and uh we love you in Jesus name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Good morning everyone. Good morning. It’s good to see the early birds. Yeah. Um my family um for the most part Louisiana is where my both of my parents were born. So we um and I’ve had brother my brothers were born there as well. I didn’t have that uh had that luxury. But it’s always been agriculture has always been something that I didn’t know it but it’s been in the background for me. A lot of my uncles were sharecroppers and my grandfather was a sharecropper and just going to the farms and moving around was just always really interesting. I loved it. We went every other year. So that bug got started there for for me and um the Lord blessed as things went along. My parents did real estate development. So construction and homes and that kind of stuff was first and foremost. Well, agriculture, all the gardening. I always enjoy doing gardening. So, one time I took a I took a break from building as a building contractor in Los Angeles and left the area and moved up to this to the northwest. Bought an orchard in Tanascid, Washington. I don’t know how many people know where that’s at, but um bought a farm there and and uh really really that I was I was at home. really enjoyed growing and farming and it was interesting the way the the way the cycles work for that. But along the way someone had called me the year first year uh second second third year owning the farm up there said I’d like you to go to Africa and I said yeah where? He said Nigeria. I said no way. Next year I got the same call say now this guy’s got a a school and he really needs help to get agriculture going. I said well it’s in Africa. I said where? Said Nigeria. He said no way I’m not going. Next year same call comes again about going to Africa. I said Lord what? Why you keep asking me why am I keep being asked to go? I said now where? They said well southern Africa. We got one of the universities that uh are having problems with their they’ve got a big farm. The students aren’t eating. They need they need to get things back on track. So I said, “Okay, I’m going to make this as difficult for them as possible. Okay, I need this and I this.” I gave a list. I need this and I this said, “If you guys have it ready by the by the end of December because I couldn’t leave then.” I said, “Money’s in the bank, etc. I’ll go.” I said, “They’ll never do it.” Sure enough, it was ready. Everything was lined up. So, I left to go to uh to Zimbabwe for as a 5-year program to work with one of our universities to get their egg program back online. And uh at that time, Zimbabwe was melting down, but it was a it was interesting. It was interesting. So traveled all the all the bottom of Africa with logistics getting farm equipment and working out farm cycles and there are some other things that needed to be done during that time getting uh getting the uh work program for the students and they had they had a list of things that really were upside down. So that allowed me an opportunity to really just see how things were done on their side and just kind of get more familiar um with with with things that were happening. So the Lord’s allowed me to learn a little bit about agriculture and I enjoy it. Um, but moreover, I understand God’s focus for us as his children. If we don’t become experts, we’re not going to make it. And it it it it just I don’t have words to explain. As we drive around the country, we we started a corporation to bring agriculture back to our schools. and and uh we knew how to we knew how we were going to have to do it. We were going to have to lease the land from our schools and set up a set up farms that had nothing to do with their committees or boards or anything else. And um a lot of congestion. There’s a if you want to fight, start talking about agriculture and start talking about doing doing that at that level. Um Satan has a plan to starve everybody to death. I don’t know if you know it, but he has a plan to do that and it works. And he’s going to fight tooth and nail when it comes to anything that’s interrupting that focus. You must know that. You must know that. Um, but we persevered. We got a we had we got a uh agreement with the Idaho Conference of 70 Adventists to lease all the land at Jim State Academy, one of the best places to grow in the area. Um it was a matter of putting the dollars together and we had a guy out looking for the for the money. Um the group that he interacted with, if you didn’t want 50 million, they didn’t want to talk to you. We only needed 8 million to build out all the infrastructure and it had to be off campus because if you don’t know it, our schools are always on the auction block. Always. You hear me? Places that God’s children have prayed over and the Holy Spirit says, “Buy that land. Choose that place.” They are they are going, they’re dropping like flies. the properties I’m talking about without the members of the church knowing anything. They’re dropping like flies. Dakota Conference is closing one school in in the only school that’s left in South Dakota. It’s closing. Bass Academy closing. These are lighouses if they were operating. And the neat thing about them, I’m going to stop talking about this area and we’ll get into what we were what you came here for. But the interesting thing in the business of agriculture why God saw that our schools should be where they are and they had the land that they have is because when it comes to organic farming most organic farms are small. They can’t produce by the truckload and by the pallets and our schools have 600 to 800 to,000 acres. They can do the production and they can supply. We did a a brief study for Pine Forge Academy and for the Chesapeake Bay. And the study that the that the county did there that the agency did for the Chesapeake Bay food shed or waterish shed in that area is that it would take a farm the size of Pennsylvania to grow all the food that goes from Virginia all the way up through Pennsylvania and up into some of the other the other states right above it. a farm the size of Pennsylvania, most of the food that comes in that area, it comes from outside. The majority comes from outside. People have no idea. And the congestion is amazing. So if logistics break down, you have millions and millions of people, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, everything is coming from out of their area. The Lord saw all of this when he asked us to get out, grow your food, etc., etc. He knew it all was coming. And as a group of people, we curse that attitude. We curse that word. As a whole, there are the faithful. Praise the Lord. It’s May the 2nd and we’re we’re moving along. David said, um, Lord, teach us to number our days that we may apply our heart to wisdom. Why our heart? How about not apply our work, apply what we do to the wisdom? But he says, no, he says that we may apply our hearts to wisdom. I want you to think with me this morning, but let’s let’s I’m going to offer a prayer just briefly and I’m going to I’m going to continue. Gracious heavenly father, Lord, please help us to hear the way you talk, the way you communicate to us. Help us to hear deeply. We’re asking you this in Jesus name. Amen. in I think in the book of You have your Bibles with you? Yes. um in the book of Psalms chapter 90 90 and verse 12 that’s that’s what we just just communicated 8611 86 86 We have a brief amount of time together and by God’s grace we want to make good of it. Look at look at Psalms let’s 90:12 is what I just quoted but let’s go turn to Psalms 86:11 look at Psalms 86:11 David said in 90 and 12 he says Lord teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom so the question was why 9012 was why the heart why apply our heart to wisdom as you look at Psalms 86:11 He says, “Teach me thy way, O Lord, and I will walk in thy truth. Unite my heart with your word to fear thy name. Unite my heart to fear thy name.” Now, if you teach me, I’ll walk in the way that you want me to go. the doing I’ll I’ll walk but there’s a disconnect somewhere. David says plea unite my heart to fear your name and the Lord tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. So there’s a canyon between what intellectually our heads collect and what’s really in our heart. Apply our hearts to wisdom. Unite my heart to fear your name and fear the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. We must pray as David prayed that God would unite our hearts that he would that he would also teach we would apply our hearts to the understanding that God gives us. I got a question for you. What is a doctrine? Formalized belief. Okay. Amen. So, anyone else? What is a doctrine? A teaching. Okay. Amen. The doc doctrine comes from a word in Latin that’s doctor which which means which is which is a teacher. So there’s there are religious doctrines, there are political doctrines, there are church doctrines, and the Bible says there are doctrines of devils. Amen. You’ve read that 1 Timothy 4 and verse one. And we’re our our focus is agriculture. 1 Timothy 4 and verse one. The Bible tells us in 1 Timothy 4:1, “Now the spirit speaks speaketh expressly that in the latter times Some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to s seducing spirits and doctrines of devils. Now, it’s interesting that the word that the scripture begins with now, because now focuses on something that’s already occurred previously. Now, we’re standing at the reality of whatever just happened. So if we go up in the scripture, if we go up to the next to the verse before that, it says Paul saying, “If I tar long that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is a church of the living God, the pillar and the ground of truth, counseling to Timothy that that he would know how to carry himself in God’s house.” But then as it continues, now the spirit speaks expressly that in the latter time some will depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits. So was that possibly an ignored warning that that that was given there? And it’s very seldom that we have the spirit of God speaking to us directly. But here in Timothy, the Bible says that the now the spirit speaketh expressly to us that in the latter times people are some will deviate, they’ll drift, they’ll swerve from the faith that was delivered once delivered to the saints that Jude talks about in verse chapter 1 and verse three. giving heed to, listening to, paying attention to, seducing spirits. And then giving heed means applying. Applying what is communicated by devils. listening to and communicating, finding that what they say has merit or has attention, has has something that has caught the attention. I want you to turn in your Bibles to Ephesians 4 and verse 14. I’m on a journey here. Ephesians 4 and verse 14. The Bible says that that we henceforth be no more children tossed to and fro, carried about with every wind of doctrine by the sleigh of men and by and cunning craftiness whereby they wait to deceive. The Lord has something to tell us in Ecclesiastics chapter 4 11:4. Ecclesiastics vers 11 and 4. 11:4. And we talked about applying our hearts to wisdom. We talked about seducing spirits, men departing from the faith once delivered. The warnings that God is giving through the Holy Spirit to his servant. Ecclesiastics 11:4. The Bible says that he that observeth the wind, what does it say? and he that regardeth the clouds. Okay. Now, there’s now there’s a few points that I want to look at here. There are two announcements that that this scripture Ecclesiastics 11:4 gives. The first is that he that observes the wind shall not so. That’s absolute. There’s no there’s no wiggle room there. And he says, ‘The person, he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. And you have to think about both of these and the implications of sewing and the implications of reaping. All that you do at the beginning of the growing season all the way through is about harvest. Amen. when you’re growing fruit tree. I I purchased an orchard in in uh Washington State in Tanascuit. Um 200,000 lbs of pears of a few different varieties and the whole year is focused on harvest. When harvest comes, we have fieldmen that move around for the packing houses and they are, you know, they’re attentive to where the sugars are, where the where the conversions are to make sure that we get that the pairs, they come off at the right time with enough starch so that they can manage themselves in cold storage and put them in CA and then they can wake them up when they want and use them for um use them as they want to open those rooms. Focus, focus, focus time. But the Lord is saying that if we observe the wind, now the Bible talks about, we read in Eccles, the every wind of doctrine that we not we’re not carried about by every wind of doctrine. So what God is telling us here is that if we observe or notice or perceive something to be significant in the wind, listening to the wind, he says we will not what? We might not sow. It’s an absolute. We won’t do it. And God has asked us to plant and grow our food. But he says if you listen to this doctrine, if you listen to the doctrine that’s moving in the wind, you will not do it. That’s how strong the doctrine is. Also he’s telling us that if we that’s obs if we observe the wind that we won’t we won’t sow. He says if we regard the clouds now you have to look up to see any communication that the clouds have to say. Right? If they’re dark clouds look dark. We got cumulus clouds building off in the distance. It appears that this. So if that communication that you’re looking up to hear or to observe or to perceive, he says you will not reap. Seowing and reaping has always been connected with spiritual focus. 1 Corinthians tells us that what first what first came was the natural and then the spiritual. So the Lord says if we’re looking up and we’re paying attention to what’s going on in the clouds to what we perceive is happening, dark clouds coming and this is going on and that’s going on. We will not reap as his children. The reaping is what we live for as growers and gardeners. The reaping is what we work for. But God is saying this doctrine is so strong. It’s an absolute. you will not if you consider it to have value. We want to talk today um and we won’t talk in here. We’re going to go outside and we’re going to we’re going to go through container gardening. We’re going to go through. Now, there’s container gardening kind of hits hits the gamut outside of work and gardening that’s that’s that’s in the field or that’s in your yard, etc. that’s in ground. Container gardening is an awesome way to get gardening done. By the way, um but the nuance of container gardening is that plants are contained. They don’t have the luxury of doing what they would do in the soil. So that brings another nuance to container gardening, something that we have you have to mitigate if you’re doing a container garden. And we’ll go through those things outside. Since the clock is moving and we’re already at the half mark, um let’s leave this area here and let’s walk out to the very back and let’s let’s continue out there.
