Is it splitting like a lithops where it doesn't need water while splitting or growing more like a delosperma where it just grows more but still needs water?thanks in advance

Can’t really tell for sure from your photo but it looks like a Dinteranthus Microspermus or Pleiospilos nelii. Both don’t need to be watered while splitting. Dinteranthus only needs light watering all year long. I completely hold off water in winter.

It looks like a Gibbaeum dispar. They do shed old leaves for new leaf pairs, but they are not as sensitive to excessive watering like Lithops. When they are going through leaf change, I water when the new leaves are soft/wrinkly. Usually, if you end up watering too much the old leaf pair will split open – not great, but not a death sentence.
