I bought this succulent over a year ago from Home Depot… been watering it, it’s healthy, suspiciously so. Tonight, i accidentally touched the flower and when it fell off i realized ITS A PLASTIC FLOWER GLUED ON?!? Probably should have known better, but the actual succulent is real! I feel like an idiot! Anyone else had this happen?

Yeahhh unfortunately a lot of the “flowers” on big box store succulents are plastic fakes!! You’re not an idiot, it’s a ridiculous practice. Your plant looks good, though!

From my understanding those are used to repot succulents so you don’t get pricked. Then you remove them

My mom didn’t know the bird of paradise flower was fake when she bought it 😭 I leave it in because it is pretty but definitely felt like false advertisement!
lol this happened to me as a kid with a Home Depot cactus and I’m still pissed about it.
when all the plants have the exact same flowers in different colors, thats a sign theyre fake lol
How did you get it off? My plastic flowers left some gross glue I feel like I can’t get off without damaging the plant

Also, it’s not a succulent – its a cactus. I believe it’s Cereus forbesii monstrose, “Ming Thing” cactus or similar. I have three and will be heading to my HD to check if they have it, haha.
Or the plants that have the entire surface of the soil covered in tiny rocks that are super glued together?
