The other day my hose didn’t want to work. So, let’s hope it’s working today. Well, we’re hand watering. The hose is not working and I don’t have time to troubleshoot it. So, yeah. But why is it so hot? It’s like we skipped spring and we just went straight to summer. Oh my goodness. And I did not water my seedlings yesterday. So everything still looks fine. Thankfully, the only thing that looks good is the peppers. My my bush squash is suffering. Looks like it has a nutrient deficiency. And that always happens to me around this time, right before I plant them out. So, my peppers look lovely. My squash does have um they are starting to flower and I know I should probably like not allow them to start flowering yet because they have not been planted. But I am I’m impatient. So, these are going to get planted really fast or really soon I guess in the next few days. Maybe tomorrow, possibly tomorrow, these will all be planted out. To the left of my struggling squash, I have some pumpkin and watermelon seeds coming up, which is so nice. Those always come up so fast. Today is May 2nd, and I started them on April 24th. And we have some sugar baby watermelon. Has some like regular jackalantern pumpkins. Moon and Stars watermelon, which is my first time growing that this year. Excited about that. mini love watermelon. I have some cuck melons, the mouse melon. So, yeah. Y’all, we’ll see how I know the watermelons are going to do good cuz I’ve grown those before. Um, as far as the pumpkins are concerned, this is going to be my third time, y’all. So, fingers fingers crossed that that that works out. [Applause] It’s supposed to rain and there’s like gray clouds above me. Fingers crossed again that it does rain. I know it’s like a 70% chance tomorrow. That would be perfect because I can just come out. I might actually let the seedlings stay out overnight just so they can be watered by the rain water. Then I don’t have to do it. But I’m about to start some zucchini seeds now. I got them in my back pocket. [Applause] I don’t think I want to start 10 uh zucchini seeds. It’s kind of a lot. So, I think I’m going to just do four. So, I’m going to gently tear this apart. All right. And then we’ll save this for something else. What? I don’t know. But we have it. if anything comes up. I don’t think there’s nothing else I really want to start right now because it is like the first week of May and I think I’m kind of at like this might be my last thing and then I’m at a standstill until maybe like midsummer when I can start some fall things. But we’ll see. And I remember that it is the pointed side down when you do zucchini. And you know what? I can’t remember how deep they’re supposed to be. So, we are going to guesstimate today cuz I don’t have no device out here. No music out here today. It’s just me and you chatting it up while I garden. I’m really loving this evergreen screen behind me. Oh my gosh, I love evergreen so much. But the zucchini are in. And I don’t have my label my my pen out here to write the label on here so y’all remember what these were for me. Okay. Okay. Perfect. And I guess I’ll just nestle them in with the other things I just started. All right. So, these should come up pretty fast, just like how the pumpkins and the melons did. All right. We should be good to go. And I’ll just move this one in the greenhouse and we’ll figure out what we’re going to do with that later on. Just stick that right there for now. See if I can gently water this in. Oh gosh. We can go ahead and dot my onions in the gaps where my um lettuce did not fill in at. Let’s do that. All right. I don’t know if y’all can see from the camera, but I have these gaps. So, this is where we’re just going to dot a few onions. And it’s literally a few. I didn’t have that many come up. It’s like five in this one and only three in that one. And I have more onions, but I think we’ll save those to put around the tomatoes and the other things I plant in those other beds, y’all. It is starting to rain. Yes, please rain. Please continue to rain. Even though the sun is like kind of peeking out right there. Y’all hear it? I don’t know if y’all can hear it. Oh, wait. It might be raining a little too hard. [Applause] This is hilarious. I’m always saying every time I’m in the garden it starts to rain. Is it a coincidence or am I timing it like that on purpose? This lettuce is looking delicious. I’m definitely going to harvest some when I’m done out here for the day. It looks so so good. And I like that I um only did like this small section of lettuce this year. Last year, I did this entire bed of lettuce and it was just a little bit too much. But this is like the perfect the perfect amount for us. The roses are looking so good. I just had to walk over here real fast to look at them. This one is called Celestial Night. And I love the way it looks before it opens. That green and burgundy together. Starting to rain again. But these two beauties in the middle on this arbit are called Awakening. And they are so gorgeous and they smell so good. You can smell the scent as the wind blows. I love that so much. What? I’m tripping up. Maybe I should call this area like the wild rose garden cuz it’s looking really wild and free to me. What do y’all think? Especially as the wind is blowing. And even though I have like weeds everywhere, weeds have moved in, set up camp, it still looks good. And just just imagine that once I get this cleaned up and I’m able to walk through it again, there is going to be a shed. I think a tiny shed. I still don’t know what I want to do with it, but just imagine seeing like a tiny shed through here. What color do y’all think we should paint the shed? I’m so torn cuz y’all know I love black, but I don’t feel like I should do black. Even though I feel like it’ll look good, I need to do something different. So, what color do y’all think the shed would be? Cuz it would be peeking out of here, and I kind of wanted to blend with this wild rose garden. I’m going just call it wild rose garden. It It matches perfectly with that name. I feel like I should cut some of these and bring them into the househ, but I don’t know. I just love how they look out here, but I know they would look so good in a vase. I’m distracted. I’m pretty sure I could stay stay right here forever and just stare at how this looks. And eventually we’re going to expand it. So, we’re going to have more roses out here. I don’t know how I want to expand it, though. I’m thinking of just leaving this bed by itself and then just creating like another bed like over here. Let me show y’all. So, leave this bed by itself and then come out a little bit. Maybe have a grass path and then do like a bed here of roses, of course, mixed with some other like perennials or something. This right here is a plum pear tree, and you can see pears on it. Maybe they’ll actually get bigger for us. Um, this tree is kind of leaning. We need to come back and stake it. But I feel like that would be a nice extension to the newly named I think final name wild the wild rose garden. Oh my gosh, y’all. It’s so perfect. Imagine again that shed. And look at this angle with the pear tree and the celestial night roses framing this section. Oh my gosh. So, what color should the shed be? giving you all these different viewpoints so y’all can see. But oh my gosh, it is gonna look so good. And this is kind of like our like orchard. We’re trying to create like a mini orchard. We have like several peach trees here, which means I’m going to have some shade. So that’s going to be really nice. I tried to create as much shade as possible because this whole backyard is like is full sun. So we had to plant trees to create the shade. But what do y’all think? I can’t wait to get started on that project. It’s probably going to be like in the fall. I think it’s like the perfect fall project. So, that means we’re going to work on it through the fall and the winter. So, by spring, it should be all pretty and then we can start planting around it. Oh, y’all, I’m excited. But the shed’s definitely going to be small. This isn’t the biggest area. And I still don’t know what I want to do with the shed cuz I thought about turning into like a sewing studio. But I don’t know. We really need the storage. But at least I’ll be able to like plant. I can plant around it. So that is going to be so fun. So so so fun. Y’all, every time I hear like a truck pass, I’m thinking that it’s the kids school. It’s the kids bus. So I keep like looking and checking this to make sure that it isn’t. I don’t have my phone or no device out here, like I said earlier. So, these are the beds that I think we’re going to work on next. These are going to be the tomato beds. So, I need to go all the way up to the front and go grab my compost. I have some compost delivered. I didn’t buy like a big bulk of compost like we usually do. And we’re making our own compost, but it’s such a small amount. And I have used all of it. So, I’m going to go grab my compost. I’ve been doing a lot of like compost deliveries and potamix deliveries. I have been loving that. and I have been just taking full advantage. It’s perfect. But I’m distracted again. Let me go get Let me go get those um things and then we can start working in this section. [Applause] There is so many ants in this bed right here. It just doesn’t make any sense. They love to make their This is like a Oh gosh. Is it honey? Seriously. Oh, y’all. So, so they must be like all on the ground, too, cuz I just got bit. Oh, I’m using diet tomatous earth to kill the ants because the plan, like I said, is to put tomatoes in this bed, but it’s kind of hard to do that when it’s riddled with ants. Sprinkle a little of this on the on the ground, too. I say a little and a lot comes out. All right. This stuff works pretty fast, though. I already see the ants dying, but I’m pretty sure there’s ants like all the way down. Okay. I know I’m putting a lot, but I’ll mix it in later. I think we’ll build those two Avalles I bought in the next video just cuz I want to make sure I have enough time to harvest some lettuce cuz I know that the bus is going to be here soon and I’m going to have to stop filming so I can tend to the children. But let me get this in one in here. Probably don’t need all of it. This one I already had topped off with some potting mix and it’s pretty full already. So, I’m just going to work a little bit in here. We are complete with this chore. All right, we’re going to harvest some lettuce, but I just noticed a few strawberries. that I’mma pick real fast. I was just harvesting strawberries like yesterday or the day. Yesterday. Yeah. And there shouldn’t be that much to grab. This one looks lovely. All right, y’all. I’m just going to finish this garden vlog off harvesting lettuce, and I will catch y’all in the next video. Thank you so much for watching.

  1. Omg, I’m loving the new name for the rose garden! Let me know what you think about the shed color too β€” I’ve been scouring Pinterest and still haven’t settled on one yet (I guess I have time lol).

How’s your garden doing this May?

  2. Oh Quilenthia, I just love, love, love the new name for the Rose garden….”Wild Rose Garden is simply divine!! The shed would be so pretty seeing it through the Rose covered arch. I do love the idea of sage green suggested earlier by another person commenting, but would be afraid it would be lost with all the green there already!! What about just a classic White with your favorite black trim? It would be really eye catching or a soft pink with off white or cream color trim? Whatever you do, do what makes you smile and feel happy!! Thank you again for sharing your lovely garden and your lovely self with us!!

  3. I love β€œthe wild rose garden” 🌺 Since you like black, my suggestion for the shed would be white with black accents (shutters, door, etc). Let the roses add all the beautiful color 😍

  4. Where are you located? I am in zone 8 SC. Most of my lettuce has already bolted. I'm taking my time this year, too. Tomorrow, I'm going to start zucchini and winter squash. I also forgot to start cucumbers. I love all the roses! I have 8 roses. 5 are climbers. After seeing your garden, I'm considering adding more!πŸ˜…

  5. maybe the shed could be a honey color? The wild rose garden is a lovely name! Your lettuce is gorgeous! Mine bolted already πŸ™‚

  6. Off topic friend I feel everytime you drop a video I feel like my favorite show on Netflix just uploaded my showπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š

  7. The first blooms on cucumbers or squash are the male blooms on the longer stems. The female blooms are on short stems and come out later. πŸ‘πŸ»

  8. I remembered the zucchini for you girl πŸ˜‚ The roses are STUNNING 😍 That arch is beautiful. I would say paint the shed black. As much as I love color, I absolutely love color I prefer large structures black. But that’s just me. For Mother’s Day my son is painting my shed black for me πŸ™ŒπŸΎπŸ™ŒπŸΎ Getting distracted in the garden is part of gardening, it’s an unspoken rule.

  9. Hi garden friend! I just planted my tomatoes & peppers in the kitchen garden yesterday! It’s already hot here too in Northern Illinois! I need to start the squash but need to find space for them to ramble, they took over the raised beds previously!

  10. Everything is looking good and it sounds like you've got some great plans in the works. Can't wait to see how your new shed comes along. No matter what color you plant it, I'm sure it will look great. This will be my first year growing Mini Love Watermelons. Do you grow yours up a support or do you let them spread on the ground? I have limited space so I'm thinking of growing it up some type of support system. We've gotten so much rain lately. Everything is super saturated, but it's partly sunny today, so hopefully things will dry up a bit before the next rain. Wild Rose Garden…. YES!
