Thanks for the kind words and support 😁🐕❤
My sweet potatoes are already in….in NJ 7b.
I love growing sweet potatoes & harvesting them in the fall. It's amazing how long they last in our basement. I still have an 8 foot table full of them from last year's harvest. I need to try growing them in a bucket vs a tote bag for fun, verses my inground & raised beds. 😊
Great video! All my food growing is mostly in grow bags so I really appreciate these videos.
James have you ever grown jicama yam? I grow it in buckets too.I put them under a deciduous tree… that way I get more sun on them in fall and yet they are shaded in summer. They are terrific.
Ah ! Cherry Trees ! 😋 🍒 Sweet !
❤❤❤❤Tuck
I’ll be growing some this way this year also! Thanks for the curing tip!
How many would you plant in a 20g container?
I love your rambling! It’s inspiring! I can’t wait to see the tour of what is growing now in your garden. Thanks for the tutorial on growing sweet potatoes, especially the info on when and how to top dress.
Great content as always! Adding Okinawa’s to my sweet potatoes this year. Can’t wait to see them!! ❤
Excellent video, but hate to see you spread the myth that coir is more environmental than peat moss. This might be true in the UK where there was sustained overharvesting of peat for fuel. In the US Peatmoss is responsibly harvested, we generate more Peat than we consume and we have used a tiny percentage of what is available. It also has a lower carbon footprint print than coir which must be shipped thousands of miles further. choose coir because it is less acidic and doesn’t get hydrophobic when dry, but not because of the myth that using coir is better for the environment.
The tray is such a great use. Usually have no idea when grow bags are full w water.
Thank you👌🏽God Bless
❤❤❤
I had some slips come up off of one that was on the kitchen counter so I put them in small glasses of water. They did great now I know what I need to do to my soil to get a good yealed. Any other advice for Arizona growing?
Does the curing process also apply to russet and red potatoes?
Just planted my slips yesterday. May have not given them enough space. Will have to go out tomorrow and pull a few from each pot. 😬🤷🏻♀️ Glad you posted this! Thank you!
I used to collect leaves in bags too but stopped because I'm organic. Idk if those leaves have been on lawns sprayed with chemicals like glyphosate. Too risky in my opinion. Gardening in zone 8 SW AR.
Really glad you did this video because I'm growing sweet potatoes for the second time after an abbreviated first season. I figured they would be nice to add to a full garden of peas, beans, squash, and tomatoes. Thanks!!
I grow two Types of Japanese sweet potatoes in containers. Murasaki and okinawa. They are sooooo good
All I want to know is how many times did you film that footwork at the start of this video? 😉
❤❤❤ Thanks, James, for your perfect training videos. They are focused and to the point.❤❤❤ R.I.P. Tuck!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Nice timing for someone in 10b because now is the time to plant sweet potatoes. Multivitamin of food! Love from San Diego!
If you don't have a greenhouse, where do you curr the sweet potatoes?
❤❤❤❤❤
I tried to grow them last year but I think my soil was too compacted. I need to try again 😊
James intro always cracks me up, looks like the introduction to a 90s rap video.
Buna va urmăresc din Romania ❤
i've got volunteer sweet potatoes in my tomato pot. i had dug some left over food scraps in to it a couple months back and the sweet potato i put in there wasn't as rotted as i thought it was. you don't have to grow them from slips. just stuff an entire small one into the pot. they're morning glories, they'll sprout without problem
I need more recipes for sweet potatoes. I like the Covington sweet potatoes.
Zone 9B here in Sacramento, California. I'm growing almost everything in grow bags this year. Got my sweet potatoes in last week. My tomatoes, beans, peppers, and potatoes are doing great. I love watching the experiment videos you do, James.
James, you ned to check out YouTube channel Rize's Gardening (Australia). He is the KING of growing sweet potatoes in containers 😊
Perfect timing: my slips are starting to root right now! This year I'm trying Japanese purple sweet potatoes in 10 gallon grow bags. 💚
Sweet potato leaves are delicious too
