Pretty much as the title says, should I be watering this?

Any help appreciated

  1. Yes, you’re watering what is commonly regarded as a weed. Whether you consider it a weed depends on whether you want to grow it or not.

Depends on what you consider a weed, but to me it looks like some form of willowherb, and I’d remove it as it can spread quite quickly, even though it is good for pollinators!

  3. Willowherb I think, not worth growing imo, an easy weed to pull out

Technically yes. It’s willowherb. Depending on if it’s the big kind or the small kind it’s either VERY IMPRESSIVE or cute enough though. Seeds very easily, id usually try and pull it up by that point.

Yes definitely a weed , name unknown , it grows tall with pink flowers which turn into fluffy air born seeds which go everywhere in the garden

  7. Looks like ground elder to me , make sure you got all the root

It’s a willowherb. They self-seed very easily and grow from offshoot roots that are thick and can easily mat up the whole top of a flower-bed within a pretty small period of time. The flowers are small and pink and I believe birds enjoy the seeds, which are kind of like smaller, softer dandelions.

Yes unless you plan on making Ivan Chai with it, then it is a useful willowherb!

Later in the year when the pretty purple flowers have faded, literally clouds of seeds are released and float away on the breeze. Which is probably how it ended up at yours.

  10. Well if you are, I ‘m doing the same on my porch .

A weed is an unwanted plant, if you want it and care for it, it’s not a weed. You do you!

  12. NotSoAwfulName

Weed is just a term used to describe unwanted plants but that is up to the gardener to decide what is unwanted, if you want to keep it then it’s not a weed, personally I pull them because I don’t want them.

  13. If you let it go to seed, you’ll never get rid of them ever again!

I am 99% sure that this is more of a wild flower than a pesky weed to most observers. It appears to be Rosebay Willowherb (or Fireweed as it is often the first plant to appear after the ground has been scorched.
