Planting onions and garlic supper late and prepping for the season.

[Music] Hello everyone. Welcome back to Planet and Prosper. My name is Lenel for those of you who may be new to the channel. And for everyone else, welcome. Welcome back. This is my official uh my first official gardening uh container gardening video for the season 2025. Spring season 2025. Y’all thought something was crawling on me. So yeah, we’re back to that time of the year again. There’s a lot that’s going on, but I have not been on because um I’m working two jobs now and y’all hope I’m assuming I’m looking at the right spot because the sun is blinding me. But I like the sun. And I like what it looks like on my skin and everything, y’all. But anyways, um uh at the end of the season, this the gardening season last year, I promised you guys um a new chicken coupe and I have it. I’ll turn you around in just a little bit to see. It’s not up, but I do have it. Um I’m always late starting my garden and I have a few things that I’m going to show you today. Um, just now I’m getting ready to plant my onions, uh, and my garlic. And, um, I bought a couple, well, I bought one zucchini plant and one pepper plant. I also have blueberries. Now, one is in the hospital and the other one seems to be doing pretty good, but I will show you all of that uh, when I turn you around in just a little bit. Hold on. Okay, so this is the future chicken coupe and I posted a picture of this uh the other earlier this week. Uh and I will be soon putting that together. I need to hurry up and get it off my truck because I need my truck for other things. I have soil in my car right now because this was is occupied with the the chicken coupe. So, let me take you over to the back of my car and I’m going to turn you in a different direction until I get it open. So, you can’t see You can’t see my yard though. You can see my bad yard. And I am in my front yard. So, people are coming by taking at me. Um, trying to make sure the doors are unlocked. And I’m going to guess show you up a little bit. block my license plate. But anyh who, this is where I have my soil and this is not where I want my soil. I told you guys last year that I stumbled across this at Walmart and I love it. And I have uh these two two cubic feet uh bags in my car. And then I have some other ones on the porch over there that I bought um that I bought earlier. Um I think it was last weekend or sometime last last last week. And um that’s what I’m starting off with. This is my yard, y’all. My lawnmower is broken again. I am contemplating buying another one. Um I intend to buy another one, a different brand and all that good stuff. Uh I’m working two jobs, a full-time job and a part-time job. and it it it shows it shows. Okay, so over here I have my goji berry plants. Let me put this bag down. I cut up some zucchini for the chickens and I’m going to give that to them in just a little bit. So I have my two containers of goji berries here. I have some more that I need to put out this year. Uh the uh later on I’ll get those out of the small container into a a gallon size bucket like these are. Y’all, let me tell you what I did. I was trying to get that black container right there for the hospitalized blueberry plant. And I saw the pot sitting on my back porch. Didn’t think at all. And I ended up discarding all of my cala lilies except for this one. And it took days before I realized what I did. And so, um, this is one that I picked up off the ground. I don’t know if it’s still any good. I’m not worrying about him anymore. But the others I picked up I put in these buckets. And I’m hoping hoping they survive. So, I’ll know in a couple weeks or so, I guess, if they have. Excuse me. So, um, this is the healthy blueberry plant. And this one, I’m not 100% sure it will continue to stay in a pot, but this one was designated for a pot. Um, and it was kind of green, kind of brown when I got it. And maybe I shouldn’t have cuz it continued to turn brown. Um, and it’s dry right now because I haven’t haven’t dampened it none uh any today yet. Um, but that’s the one that’s hospitalized. I did pick up some acidifier to put to sprinkle on the top of those. Um, and I told you I picked up a pepper. This is a jalapeno pepper because um it’s so late and they take so long to start. And then this is a zucchini. I was not successful last year with any squash. I will show you my ditch. I limmed up that ditch all by myself. Okay, so this is my yard. This is a hot mess. I need to spray some weed killer in there to to keep that clear. And I think I’m gonna put some rock put some weed barrier down and then some rock in there to keep it clean and and and able for me to see. But yeah, it’s a hot mess and I’m not doing much. Look what the wind did to the the book since uh this morning. You see the tarp is lifted up up there. Um but you can also see where I limmed up some things across the back side of this ditch and I have not picked it up. I’m going to try to do all of that today. Uh my poor little fig tree did not survive. I think it was Helen uh came through and that was that’s what’s left and I need to pick the rest of that up so I can actually cut through there. I’m a little afraid because you know snakes bad. Um I do have quite a few fig trees coming up. Um, I’m not going to let them allow them to grow over there. And I’m going to try to move one over here where the rest of the fruit trees are. Okay. Sorry about my bad um uh use of the camera here. Not doing so good with that right now because I’m trying to hurry up. But anyway, I’m not going to show you be on camera today much other than showing you now and showing you afterwards uh because I need to get busy and I don’t have time to cook up with the camera. So, I’m going to I put leaves in this over the winter and of course I didn’t expect them to um to um break down that quickly, but I’m going to go ahead and put some dirt on top of them. And I’m going to plant my onions in here again this again. And this time I’m going to actually let them stand in long enough to mature and and grow. So that that will you will see that in just a little bit. And um I’m going to help my daughter plant some flowers and I’m going to plant the zucchini and the jalapeno and maybe some other things and I’ll bring you back. And I and I’m one of those people that um I don’t believe in, you know, digging in the ground and things like that during on a Sunday. So, I’m trying to get all of this done before tomorrow. So, I will try to come back. If I don’t come back with the after today, I’ll definitely do that in the morning. I don’t mind doing that until then. So, this is what I’ve done so far. I’ve holed around it a little bit. Pulled all the weeds out. I added one bag, one of those two cubic um feet bags of soil. And um I’ll get my onions in there. a little later and I once they start uh coming up I’ll show you that as well. So, it’s gotten a little dark. Um can’t find any. This is a little bit maybe not. Let’s go back a little further. Oh, there we go. Um so, um I didn’t get everything done that I intended to do today. I did get my onions in my raised bed planted. Um, I fixed the water with for with the chickens and not having water. Um, I didn’t plant all of my garlic. I’ll plant that later in in actual containers. And I didn’t get some other things planted. So, I’ll get those planted uh tomorrow or Thursday. Um, and so I don’t know what’s going on my camera y’all. Okay. a little bit up. Okay. Anyway, um it’s not dark. I don’t know what I did with the camera, but uh this is it for today. I will uh get this up. It’s is hopefully tonight. Um I would like for the onions to get as big as possible. And so I will plant the onions in a container. That crooked scared the mess out of me y’all just now. Um, my water bottles, the caps broke. I use them for weights. I use them to water things. Um, not these old ones to water things, but um for weights. And I’m going to go grab I hope it don’t doesn’t lift up.
