Take a tour of my front yard landscaping. I have a collectors style cactus and succulent landscape. Hope you enjoy seeing what I’ve been working on.
Hey everyone, it’s David. Hope you’re doing well. Today I thought we’d go through a walk of my front yard landscaping. It’s been a while since we’ve done a walk through and there’s a lot happening this time of year. So, let’s get started and take a closer look. Starting in this corner, we have an alo capitata. Capitata means headlike, which refers to the form of the flowers. This one is just about finished blooming, but we can still see a few flowers holding on a little bit longer here. And then next to that we have an optia with these nice bright pink flowers. This one also has very sharp dangerous spines as you can see. Uh the flowers are very pretty though. Euphoria and then over here we have some yellow flowering alows. This one I believe is called Verity Nice. And it is quite varity nice. Oh, look a hummingbird. Perfect timing. All right, continuing on. And then this yellowspined cactus is in bloom right now. It’s looking very pretty. Bet you the hummingbirds will like those. Then going down this way, the alo plecatillus, fan alo, kumaria, plecatillus, whatever you prefer to call it. I’m having quite a few flower buds on this one this year. Very pretty. There’s a few flower spike a few flower spikes coming up on this dika. Still a ways to go on that. And then down this way on the pharaoh cactus glock cessins. A lot of nice yellow flowers and a whole bunch of buds still coming. Very pretty. And then we already missed the flower flowers on this one. We can still see the seed heads there. I think they actually look uh look pretty nice. And let’s go back this way. It’s our toothpick cactus and a coral aloe. Also toward the end of blooming. Hummingbirds really love this one. I always see hummingbirds on this. That’s a milkeed plant. It looks like a weed cuz it popped up there by itself, but I haven’t had the heart to pull it. And then over here we have an auntia uh rubo viaier. And look at all these buds. I noticed the very first flower opened today has this nice sort of yellow color, but holy moly, look at all of these buds. Amazing. There’s going to be so many flowers on this this year. I can’t believe it. And then let’s see toward the end of the ice plants. Lots of buds coming on this cactus. Looking forward to that one. It has yellow flowers. Everything down this way is doing pretty well. And then this is um tricoserus epicenter. Lots of buds there too. And we can go down the path over this way. This dika is a little bit ahead of the last one. Some more auntas. Here’s one I started from seed. Lots of new growths um are starting to come on this one. Also got some weeds going on. Another type of milkweed. Uh the pine needled milkweed. I really like this plant. And then lots of purple flowers down in this way. Right now on the right is the um sea lavender. And then over this way I have um under under the back porch um pensmen very pretty color. Then back this way we have um some flower buds coming out here on this echinopsis. And then here’s my crested senio that I recently transplanted here. Still look like it’s doing okay. It’s another variety of dika. And then this one is the plant that manuka honey is made out of toward the end of flowering there. Lots of alows blooming this time of year, although we’re getting toward the end of the aloe season. And then we have a few gastereia down this way. These are all ones that I started from seed a couple years ago and they’re now all flowering size, which is exciting to see. Some more buds on the cactus over here. And down on this optia, we have a few flower buds coming. This is a blue aloe. Some more buds coming on that. the grailia euphoria. Then down this way, I have a bunch of buds coming on this cactus. This one has a is really pretty. Has bright bright pink flowers. I really like seeing this one flower. So excited to see that one come. Then back this way, another gastereia. Nice flowers on that one. Nice branching. Agave back to the plecatillus. And we’ll hop to the other side of the driveway. The ice plants, nice bright orange flowers. They open up in the sun. Also toward the ends of the season of the for those aloe Camerooni. Nice red color. More of these bright pink flowers on the opontia. Very pretty. Loving this cactus this time of year. And then over here is where my other um opantia violacier is. And this one has only a few flower buds right here. And I’ve got mostly uh new leaf growth on this one for some reason. And not as many flowers as the one on the other side of the driveway. And then this is totally taking over my pathway. Last year I had cut it back all the way so that the pathway could be seen and now it’s grown back over the pathway. But after this flowers, I’ll cut it back and we’ll be able to see the pathway soon enough. And I used to also be able to get by here, but I can’t anymore. So, I’ll just kind of squeeze through some California poppies. Here’s a sunflower that the birds planted. It just kind of started growing by itself. It’s already gone to seed here, and I’ll collect that once it dries out, and I’ll give it back to the birds. Then we have a another ice plant, my lavender, and a cactus up here in the corner. So, there we have it. I hope you enjoyed seeing how my garden is doing in the spring of 2025. So many things are developing so nicely, and it’s nice to see my garden finally starting to mature and fill out. It’s always a work in progress though, so please come back and come and see my garden again in the future. I hope everybody is having a wonderful spring and I’ll see you in the next one. Bye.

Garden is looking fantastic, David. Can't wait to see all those Opuntia flowers open. Thank you for sharing with us. Have a wonderful day from Edith & myself 🌵☀️🌸🌼🌺🏜
Wow! What a beautiful garden🤗💞🙌I love it!!!
Your neighbors must love you. I have three aloe plicatilus in me yard but none are as nice as yours. In South Africa I saw one the size of a minivan. It must have been 100 years old.
Super nice garden and flowers. Look forward to another update
