Bought this plant a little over 2 years ago when it was 3 feet tall… it seems to have just hit another growth spurt the past couple months. First big plant I’ve owned, first time a big plant has gotten too big for my house lol. Looking for any advice

Take out the ceilings. Or maybe just move it outdoors 🤣

I’m curious about how much light it gets during the day? It’s obviously VERY happy!!! Do you fertilize??

I would let it just keep growing and let it be the indoor jungle, but that’s me!!

I sold my big plant when it got to big 😪 I miss it but I knkw it was the right choice for us.

I assume you live somewhere with winters and can’t plant it outside. White Bird of Paradise get around 20 feet tall. Mine will outgrow my home and I’ll have to find someone with a double height room to rehome it with.

If you like the shape and have lots of light, there is an orange BOP that only gets to around 6′. Not as readily available however.

Give it to me cuz I have taller ceilings

  7. I’ve seen some people say to cut the root ball depth in half to limit plants getting bigger. (I don’t know specifics)

You have to move. There is really no other option lol

If you want to keep it inside and don’t plan on reconstructing your house like some people are suggesting, I think you could try to train/bend the stems to make it more like an umbrella shape. I haven’t had this problem myself, so I’m just brainstorming here.

I see you’ve used rope to tie keep the bunch tight. I would keep that, but maybe move the rope higher so its even tighter. Or you could try connecting a rope from the base of each leaf to the pot to make the stem curve. The middle leaves are scrunched on the ceiling, so at a minimum you should smooth those out.

You’re going to have to eventually anyway. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes. It’s way too big now. You should definitely send it to me. I’ve plenty of room for it in my atrium which is 2 stories high. 😉
Jk… kind of. It’s truly awesome though. I’m hella jelly. Fr. ❤️

We’ll have the same problem soon, even with our 9 foot ceiling! Ours is too happy, it’s gotten so big all the way around. It’s such a great part of the room! I figure when it gets too large I’ll sell it and start again.

Get a cutting or two (if possible, unsure) and start over. Sell this to someone who has more space for it.

    Or remove the ceilings.

I have 3 and notice they stretch to the light. Once I move the bop closer to the grow light newer leaves have a better (same shorter)stalk length but the leaves are longer.

It’s the landlord now, I suggest you pay rent by feeding it water and compost 😁

I believe the only thing to do is to give it to me. I will gladly take this conundrum off of your hands. And in this generosity I will also donate the money for shipping. Be kind and all that ya know??

I know things are really expensive right now but I would look into a new house. It’s the only option you have without renovation

Congrats! That’s awesome. What’s your secret? I’ve had mine for like two years and it’s grown new leaves, but hasn’t gotten taller. What’s your soil like?
