Tucked away near Beijing’s North 3rd Ring Road, Shuangxiu Park offers a rare blend of Chinese and Japanese garden artistry. Created in 1984 as a symbol of cultural friendship, this serene escape features two distinct landscapes: a classic Chinese garden with its winding paths and graceful pavilions embodying harmony with nature, and a Japanese garden designed by famed landscape architect Kinsaku Nakane, with minimalist rock arrangements, ponds, and wooden bridges.
Just steps from Beijing’s bustling Third Ring Road lies Schwang Shao Park, where two nations garden traditions bloom side by side. On one side, China’s classical landscape unfolds. Winding paths circling hills, pavilions perched above ponds, every element carefully placed to reflect harmony between man and nature. Then suddenly, you’re in Japan. This is the work of master designer Kinsaku Naen who created this miniature Kyoto in 1984 as a living symbol of friendship between neighbors. Two gardens, two philosophies, one peaceful oasis where China meets Japan.
