For reference, I’ve had this guy for 5 years now and about two months ago I noticed a split. Now I did leave him sitting in water the last time I watered him so I’m assuming that’s the issue. I really don’t want to cut or repot unless absolutely necessary since he’s been doing so well in this pot and location.
Does this look like a water split?

Not too hot sun though, I have melted more than one of these in Arizona in the summer doing that

Is the area with the split hard or soft? If it’s hard I would let it be. If it’s soft I would input it and cut off the affected portion and repot it in fast draining soil.

If it was mine, I’d cut it in half, about where that corky spot is, and pot the top half in the same pot as the bottom half.

It looks to me like it’s cracking from its own weight. In the wild, it will fall down and root wherever it can. So I’d intervene before nature does its thing and potentially causes a lot of damage to the plant if/when it falls.
