On a recent warm day in Toronto (25 degrees) I left all my plants outside for much needed sunshine. It looks like my birds of paradise is in shock. The new leaves have gone brown and are curling upwards. How do I fix this?

The pot has drainage but recently I stopped watering it every week as it the soil was constantly wet, waiting for it dry again before next watering.

Normally it sits right in front of a window and gets ample light.

The leaves have sunburn. Those leaves won’t turn green again, but any new leaves should be just fine. Never put your plants outside and direct sunlight without hardening them off first that will just give them sunburn.

Not dying. Most likely is just sun scorched, especially if it was left outside in direct sunlight after only being grown indoors. Don’t overdo anything. Let it recover and do its thing.

I’ve nursed my own plant back after leaving it outside and this exact same thing happening. My good friend did this last year and all the leaves got cooked. Now it’s thriving again.

You’re in good company! You got this!
