We were able to rescue a few plants from a closing office, including some bird of paradise and what looks like a type of palm. A few of them arent doing too well, but others seem quite healthy. We have never had plants this large before, so we are a bit unsure how to care for them properly. We would really appreciate any advice on potting—like what kind of soil they prefer, how big the pots should be, what to do with the bad looking leaves, and how to take care of them in general.
Thanks!

Lucky duck! The pot should be an inch or two larger than the root ball and just use regular potting soil, but add some perlite and orchid bark to the mix
