Slow release!
I was just thinking, it would be kinda cool to try putting a rolled up cardboard or plastic funnel beside where you plant, so as the vines spread, you can still add liquid fertilizer, or granular and then water it in. The trick might be to find cheap enough and big enough funnels to make it worth it if you have a lot of plants……
What do you think?
i'm becoming a fan of calcium nitrate. my fruit has been sweet and stores well. i'm in fall season here in Oz.
Are water melons heavy feeders?
Thats exactly what I do as i buold my boxes I add blood meal, feather meal, calcium, bone meal, azomite potash and worm casting allover mixed in to my panting beds !
Why not utilize a foliar spray?
Its quite simple when you use a organic slow release granular fertilizer like Stutzman farms nutri-rich or Milorganite and you mix the fert with the soil at the time you plant as those fertilizers will feed the vines for 2-3 months with rain or irrigation.
