I’m impressed. The grass was blocking the sidewalk. And now it will be a lot easier for them to remove lawn and replace it was native plants if they decide to.

He’s doing a great service. The next step would be to plant some native and ecosystem-enhancing flora. This yard wasn’t achieving that before he came along, it was just a decaying mess.

Alls I could think the whole time is that would make great compost. Hope he didn’t landfill all that.

Nah, this was a fire hazard & an eyesore. Don’t confuse laziness with environmentalism

There are a lot of YouTubers that do this and I think it’s more helpful than not. I agree the bare lawn is not attractive after it’s been cut, but much better than looking abandoned. Also, if they’re not even doing the bare minimum to maintain their yard, imagine what the inside of their house looks. Yikes!

This is an irresponsible homeowner, not a “fuck lawns” scenario. That public sidewalk was inaccessible because of their lack of maintenance.

No lawns doesn’t mean post apocalyptic nature reclaiming of everything.

    Typical r/fucklawns meadow

But also, legitimately impressed by the grass growing on mats on top of (unbroken) concrete

If someone’s having difficulty maintaining their yard to the point it looks like this, I wonder if it’d benefit the local government to just offer swapping their yard to something we see here in the sub. Whether they charge for it or not, idk but it’d be a lot better than fining an elderly person hundreds of dollars just to fine them again later on. I could really see it helping older and disabled individuals who can’t do it anymore
