Pothos are known for easy propagations but I have this in water since January first, and it was in water even before that with an acquitance who gifted me the cutting. But there seems to be so slow rooting. Am I doing anything wrong? Or could I do anything better?
(Same for the mostera beside it)
They sit in front of the window but has no direct sunlight and I change the water every 2 days or so. I once changed it after 5days and the roots became brown so I'm scared to let it sit in the same water for longer than 2 days.

Roots hate light
Could always try the transparent box and moss method

Here’s a close up. Chat-gpt says the node is not strong enough to root probably and that I should pot it into soil already. Is that true?
Personally, with starting some plants in water it’s taken them anywhere from 4 months to a year. Give them some time, check the roots every few days or so to make sure they don’t rot. If anything you could get rooting hormone gel or powder.
Hello!
I would like to suggest the standard method of propagation unless you are fixated on propagating in water.
Use a heat mat and germination box(available in walmart or any other store that has garden section).
Fill a 4” pot with soil mix/ sphagnum moss.
Stick the cutting in the soil to an inch deep.
Water the pot well immediately and place it on the heat mat.
Cover the whole setup with the germination box.
Observe the cutting and if it is flagging, mist occasionally to keep it turgid.
High humidity and temperature is the key to successfully propagate pothos varieties.
good luck!
Pothos is a shade or indirect sun plant.
I’ve always used tinted glass for rooting them!
Also, there is a rooting starting product you could use. I don’t remember the name.
The fact that they have no direct light is impeding their growth.
Mit Wasser wächst sie besser als mit Berliner Luft 😛
Make sure the node stays underwater. Also change the water frequently and a little rooting hormone helps. If you notice the cut part rotting snip it off and dip it in melted candle wax to seal it from rotting just don’t cover the node.
Put them together in a much smaller glass. Take them away from the window, you don’t want that much light. Stop changing the water. Pothos naturally creates its own rooting hormone in the water so you do not want to dump that out and you want there to be less water so the hormone is more concentrated.
My props sit on the counter of my windowless kitchen, in a small cup with like, 15 pieces all together. They root well in just a couple weeks.

There’s so many answers telling you so many different things lol my only two cents is to put them in whatever cup you want, put only enough water to cover the lower node where the roots will come out, place in a bright indirect lit spot and lastly replace or add more water about once a week. You’ll get roots no worries.
The one on the right has its stem underwater
