Yes you can – it’s mint, it’ll survive basically anywhere and you may regret planting it as it can run amok…

That’s mint once in the ground mint spreads rapidly and can be an issue hence its best grown in a pot for easy access and frequent cropping of the top tips and keeping the overall plant in control . You can slam it in the ground but prepare for it to roam.

You can, but you’ll wish you hadn’t. It takes over and it’s quite hard to dig back out again.

Stick it in a more boring pot or just have lots of mojitos if you don’t want to keep it.

You can if you want to be weeding it for the next 50 years.

That’s mint, you will never ever be rid of it if you plant it wild.

  6. Slyspy006

Do not plant that mint, leave it in the container.

  7. Legitimate-View-3277

You can, but as the other commentators said, it will take over. Your neighbours will also hate you as it does not respect property boundaries

Compost is probably a bit tired, repot with fresh compost but keep it in a container.

I followed the advice & kept mint in a container… it climbed out & invaded the garden! 👀

  10. I suggest not planting mint into the ground. Previous owner of my current house made that mistake and 6 years later, I am always pulling up mint from where it shouldn’t be.

Don’t plant it in the ground, it’ll run rampant

I prefer to keep mine in pots because if it like the you put it in, it will take over.

I used a flamethrower on mint and it still fucking came back. I don’t even like mint so not sure why I even had it

  14. Just_Eye2956

Don’t. Always keep mint pot bound or you will regret it.

Mint will normally spread, I had some that sent a runner out of a pot, escaped into the garden but miraculously stayed in one area. I literally had gardener friends checking it out in disbelief as no-one knows why it stopped. This is however an outlier. Their roots will cross with other plants and steal water etc.

There’s a reason this plant was imprisoned in a pot

  17. Away_Painting_8905

You will only think planting mint in the ground is a sensible thing once. Trust me.

You wouldn’t even have to put them in the ground. Tip them out, throw on concrete and jump on them if you like, and you’d probably need a machete to get across your patio this time next year.

Do not unless you love mint.

It is controllable but you will spend a lot of time controlling it.

Thats mint. You could probably plant it in molten lava and it wont kill it
