i got my first hanging last march 30 (first photo).
one by one, the flowers started to wilt, and today, they’re all gone (second photo).
i was honestly scared when i bought it since it was my first time caring for an air plant. idk if i did my best researching how to properly care for it
i’d appreciate some tips on how to care for hanging orchids. do they need a lot of bright, indirect light? i kept mine in our living room, where there’s plenty of it in the mornings. i watered it as regularly as I could and soaked the roots for 20 minutes once a week.
where might i have gone wrong? will it still bear flowers?

This is an orchid, a beautiful one at that. It’s a vanda orchid. I’m not familiar with how people grow them indoors but they need full sun and watered daily where I am. I’m not sure where you live but you should ask how to care for it where you purchased it from and and do some Internet (not Reddit) research on how to care for this beauty where you live. Best wishes to you.
That’s not an airplant (Tilandsia). It’s a Vandaceous orchid. Lovely specimen, btw, and appears to be in good health.
Vandas are epiphytes, need high light, high humidity, frequent watering (without being left wet), and good air circulation. A lot of people grow them in greenhouses, shade houses, or outside. They are typically grown almost or completely bare-root, as your is right now.
As with all flowering plants, orchid flowers and flower spikes, as they are called, don’t last forever.
