In this video, I’m taking you behind the scenes of my cottage garden-inspired yard makeover—starting with the design process! I’m approaching my outdoor space the same way I approach interiors: using floor planning techniques, applying design principles like balance and flow, and layering texture, color, and personality with thoughtful material selections.
You’ll see what the space looks like now, including the immovable elements and functional needs we have to work around, and how I plan to evolve this yard over the coming seasons. Whether you’re dreaming up your own garden or just curious how interior design overlaps outdoor spaces, I hope this gives you fresh inspiration and ideas.
While you’re designing with me in real time during this video, I’ve already started part of this project—without overthinking it (!!!). If you’ve been following along with the channel for a while, you’ll know I’ve also started makeovers in my sitting room, and shared plans for my kitchen and bathroom. Those projects are still very much in motion! But I’ve been working through some mindset blocks—perfectionism, fear of failure, and the procrastination that comes with it.
This garden is my opportunity to fail forward—because nature doesn’t care about perfect plans, and that’s part of the beauty. 🌿
