They like rainwater! If you get water from the fridge, leave it on the counter for 24-48 hours before you give it to the calathea. Also, their leaves will move throughout the day and curl up at night. Don’t be alarmed by this. They also do not love being repotted and might be cranky afterward

İ bought one a couple days ago too hehe! I have a couple calatheas and i heard that this especially loves shade. İ put mine 1.5m aeay from an east facing windows and made sure morning sun doesn’t shine on it. Coming from my other whiney calatheas tap water is a no no. Water to keep the soil damp, not wet. Dont let them dry out. My ambient humidity is at 40 when its low so they seem to be doing fine. A well draining soil mith perlite sould work. Take these with a grain of salt, since im too not experienced with this specific one. İ would ve shared a pic of my big boy but this sub doesn’t allow lol.

Looks like a jungle velvet. Is it velvety on the leaves with purple under the leaves?

This is my fav of all my calatheas! It wants more light than most ppl think. Mine is in an east window that is shaded by a small porch after like 10 am. So a few hours of early morning sun and it thrives. It doesn’t want to dry out at all. Make sure your pot has drainage holes in the bottom. I like to bottom water mine. I put in a bowl of water and let her soak up as much as she wants for about fifteen minutes. I would start off watering once a week. If you see the leaves curling then you need to water more often
