I bought an Ammak online and it arrived in perfect condition but I wasn’t happy with the curve it was growing in. Because it was quite long I decided to cut the top off to regrow it.
A few days after I cut it I put it in a pot and about a week later I noticed it was brown and mushy at the base so I removed it and re-cut it to try a second time but it’s happened again. What am I doing wrong?
I’ve added a picture of the Ammak I cut it from and it seems fine.

Looks like it rotted. Maybe the soil was too wet while the wound wasn’t sufficiently calloused.
