MY FAVORITE GARDEN PRODUCTS 🧰 💯

  2. I truly appreciate what you do! Your experiments like these are so creative, and it's so much fun to see how the different methods work out! I just started my first potato planting thanks to one of your previous videos, using an old Amazon box! 😁

  3. What a great experiment! We learn so much from these experiments; what to do and what NOT to do. Great fun!!!

  4. I'd love to see you collect free leaves, but set aside in a pile for a year, to breakdown/compost; then try potatoes in year-old leaves.

  5. We have so many leaves from our neighbors' huge maple tree, it's unreal. Any time you talk about what to do with leaves, I'm there. Thank you for this experiment! At the end of this season I am going to cover my raised beds with the leaves for the first time.

  6. As an organic gardener and former 10+years self sufficient offgrider (long story/terminal cancer ended my offgrid days), that was very interesting.
    Thanks.
Do you keep and grow potatoes from their seed pods?

  7. I feel you would have had better luck if you mulched the leaves a few more times with the mower and made the bottom layer thicker so the potatoes have some room to stretch out 😉

  8. I grew some potatoes in leaves last year. I had more seed potatoes than I had room for so I decided to give it a try with the leaves. While they were not as big or as prolific as my soil grown potatoes, mine were still nice looking. One thing I liked about the leaf grown potatoes was that it was super easy to dig through the leaves and pull up a few potatoes for dinner, even before the whole plant was completely dead.

  9. Thank you for this video . I learned a valuable lesson from it and it was so great to see the little Boss❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ , by the way , does this mean you now have the probability of scabby potatoes from now on in this particular garden ?

  10. I once grew pumpkins in a horse manure and straw ang got great results. And the manure pile was markedly reduced.

  11. I wonder if you used grow bags if the nutrients would stay in the bag longer, or, if mixing native soil with leaves would work. Great experiment!

  12. Not a failure but a great experiment. I learned a great deal from this. We have heavy clay soil and always thought something like leaves would be better.

  13. Awesome video James! Your last potato video is how we found your channel so it was super cool that you put this one out! It would have been cool to see a side by side photo comparisons of the yields from the straw vs soil for those who didn't see the last video. But either way, great job! I love seeing these kinds of experiments. Much love from Indiana!

  14. would you consider trying a few mixes of leaves and soil, 20/80, 50/50 and 80/20 or something to see if there is a benefit anywhere along the line as opposed to pure soil?

  15. Dude, how do you go from your greatest harvest ever, to hey, growing in leaves might be cool? That said, I’m heading out in a bit and I going to try it.

  16. I really appreciate garden experiment videos like this! It's still helpful to know what doesn't work in addition to what does

  17. It would be interesting to see you do an experiment with half soil half leaves to see if the potatoes will yield more potatoes and have a better shape.
