I've got this little woodland border which in spring looks lovely with daffs, primroses etc, but after that it just looks green. What can I plant that will flower in summer and can just live with all this? I don't dig up my bulbs or primroses. I'd rather something that will just pop up each summer and look fabulous and easy 😂 (i like low maintenance as I have a fair bit too garden) already have a couple of self seeded Aquilegia. TIA 💐

Ffs that’s supposed to say “summer flowering plants” 😂😂 bloody auto correct….

A hardy fuchsia (or 2) will fill the spot nicely. It starts producing new shoots around now and then comes into full flower in summer (the flowers last into autumn). After that it goes bare. You then cut it right down in early spring, by which time your daffodils and primroses will be flowering.

Bugle – I have it everywhere. If you get the purple- leaved variety, it has colour year-round. The blue flowers look a bit like wild orchids. 😁

  4. sunflowers? or if you want a real perennial how about straw foxglove?

Flag irises, love lies bleeding, a dahlia, peony or ferns, a couple of hostas and foxgloves! All would be gorgeous
