Bought a house last summer. It has a pond in the ground, and the previous homeowners thought intentionally planting bamboo on the backside of it was a good idea. I have fought bamboo before, and I know it is not a battle for the timid of heart. Anyone have any good solutions they've found that I might try?

good luck. the roots are gonna be the real killer.

  2. I toyed with every solution until one day I had enough and just started cutting every shoot that popped up after it hit about a foot. That did the trick.

You want it to release energy and by letting it grow a little bit before cutting, you force it to waste energy. You especially want to focus on days immediately after rain. Let it soak all that water up and shoot up everywhere before cutting it down.

It’s not gonna die overnight either….its gonna survive for years until it finally goes away. Commitment is key to success.

    Try Tordon RTU.

Cut it flush, slightly above ground. Spread the Tordon on the cut part (it has the consistency of dawn dish soap). Let it work the magic down to the roots.

We use it on Japanese honeysuckle and other invasive plants.

I’ve had success with garlon, and sprakil combined.

    Good luck!
