so i’ve noticed lately my pothos is starting to turn downwards, and it was out of nowhere. he gets watered weekly, every tuesday to be exact. and he sits in the windowsill for 4-6 hours a day getting sun. he is starting to sprout a new leaf but i’m just worried? is it over watering/underwatering? do i need a new bigger pot? help!!

*also* i do water it when soil seems dry, it does go a bit dry before every tuesday so i moisten up the soil a bit
I wouldn’t water on a schedule. Check that the soil is about half way dry before watering again, it might be over watered. Have you checked the roots? I only water mine every one to two weeks
You’re watering too much – only water when the pot feels lighter, or the soil feels dry. It also looks like that pot doesn’t have any drainage.
Does that pot have drainage? It doesn’t seem like it. If not, there’s nowhere for the water to go. Even if the top feels dry, the bottom is wet.
The pot is too big. The volume of wet soil is too great. It is retaining too much moisture for too long. Go down to a 4” pot with chunky soil (1/2 orchid mix, 1/2 African violet mix (or 1/4 tropical an 1/4 perlite). Repot, soak it thoroughly in water and let it sit until the pot seems light. Then water by soaking the pot again. Also give it plenty of light
Bright room, no direct sunlight.
When placed this way, they can thrive in water alone.
it’s suffocating in that soil. lmk if you want comprehensive info like basically pothos instructions haha
It looks sick. Take her to the doctor
check the roots. i have so much trouble with cuttings and every time one starts drooping i check and its a goner 😭
That pot is too big and looks like it probably doesn’t have drainage. Also that soil is retaining lots of moisture, you don’t want that. Pothos need a good draining soil substrate and holes to expel extra water.
I saw you say you water it when the soil is dry, don’t worry about that! It’s okay and *good* for the soil to dry out between getting water.
A bigger pot is the last thing this needs, start with a small pot. Plants like pothos will work on growing roots to fit the pot it’s in, so a pot that’s too big will mean the plant will appear to basically not grow for a while. Use a small pot, like maybe 3″ to start.
