As far as plant hauls go, this one is pretty darn good. Iseli Nursery (a wholesale nursery in Oregon) sent me a bunch of great trees and shrubs at no charge. I’m also sharing another tree I bought locally that will be making an appearance in the garden soon.

Looking for these plants or others from Iseli? Check out their vendor search to find a garden center near you that carries them: https://www.iselinursery.com/map/

  1. Omg, Erin…all of them are spectacular! I would say my favorite was the origami maple. I saw another one last week and decided I had to have one for my meditation garden that I’m creating this summer. 🧘‍♀️

  2. Erin, protect your trees. I know you have Deer where you are. A few years ago I bought a Nootka weeping cypress. (Very expensive) A very beautiful tree until the Deer are it right down to the trunk. Had to take it out. Then I bought two hemlocks, don’t remember the name, but the new growth is white. Deer ate them too, even though hemlock supposed to be poisonous. Was able to save them by putting a cage around them for the winter and will spray them with deer repellent over the summer. They’re a bit scraggly right now but I’m hoping they will fill out.

  3. Love all your plants from Iseli, since they are a wholesale company I will be looking for a couple of the plants you got, at my local nurseries. Esp that golden😂 mugo pine. I live literally 20 minutes from Iseli. I have several green mugo pines love them AND if you want to keep them small and their shape just brake off the candles which will grow into more limbs. 😊 have fun with your new plants & trees.

  4. Does your garden get a lot of cold wind off the water? I am in a similar zone, but right on the Atlantic. I would like to try some of these trees, but I’m not sure my yard can handle it with the windchill and salt spray. I am now on my second round of Satomi dogwood after losing one the previous winter. I love that tree and am determined to find the right spot for it.

  5. What a great plant haul from a most generous source.
As a southern gardener in Alabsma Z8b, I wonder how heat tolerant they all are. I know you mentioned a couple of the Maples were bred for both cold & heat tolerance. I need a few more evergreens in my garden and can't wait to see where you place all of yours. Happy gardening!

  6. GREAT plants! I want to try a Korean "shrub" maple, and Origami looks amazing. I have a small yard, so small is appropriate, and 8 x 8 is perfect. Love the others, too. And I also need to add evergreens.
I'm in z5b/6a MA. Night temps have been below freezing, and we had 5" of snow today. Ugh.

  7. I’m so jealous of your Seven Sons Tree! I planted a Tower of Bloom variant last fall and it’s puny compared to yours. I do plan on plumbing it up in a few years when it puts on some growth.
Beautiful trees. My goal this year is to add evergreen interest in the front yard and done of your lower growing choices may end up in my yard too. Thanks!

  8. That is one amazing architectural tree & shrub haul! My favorite shifted every time you moved on to a new specimen, but if I had to pick my top ones: Kousa dogwood, the small origami Japanese maple & the blue birds nest (millbrook) spruce. All are understated elegance to me. But, wow are you going to have “moments” all over your property. Living vicariously through you, Erin!

  9. No way I can pick a favorite. They are all so cool! Can’t wait to see where you plant them as I am impatient, too. Excellent plant picking 👌

  10. I’m so jealous! I live in zone 8b…no hemlocks or spruces for me 😢. I have other things…but your new plants are beautiful! Congratulations 🎊

  11. I just planted a North Winds Maple last fall. I can't wait to see what it looks like throughout the year! It just started to leaf out a week or two ago.

  12. I’m in the puget sound area of Washington state. That whole plant haul is my jam. Those are gorgeous specimens! I want the curly chamaecyparis.

  13. This showing is at the top of my list for what trees to plant. And to receive them from Iseli…..better than winning the lottery. Congratulations

  14. I LOOOOVE Mugo Pine. I have a little dwarf one and it's my first evergreen I was able to make survive in my garden, I have a few other types now but mugo pine is still my fave, it always looks perfect

  15. @iselinursery I am so impressed with all of the trees and shrubs. Definitely will be looking into getting some for my garden

  16. Thank yo for the informative video. I am re doing a bed in my front yard and want to incorporate some interesting evergreens for structure, winter interest and roosting for birds then filling in with perennials and some annuals. I have 3 mountain mint ready to plant (probably in a week or 2 in zone 6b/7) based on your recommendation on a previous video. I like the idea of blue and gold color contrast and the different textures that evergreens provide. I will be checking the Isley website and local nurseries. Your video was a big help.

  17. Hi Erin 👋 What an AMAZING Plant Haul! What a dream! I wish I could grow them in my hot and extremely humid garden! Thank you for sharing this with us. 💜 Jen Z9b Tx Gulf Coast

  18. Gorgeous new plants, Erin! I challenge you to a Niwaki pruning contest to create a Newfie-shaped shrub!

  20. Sending a wish list to Iseli – I want one of everything for my 1/4 acre city lot. Everything is so pretty want everything.

  21. All of them are my favorite! We dont have Iseli plants in Cary NC. What an amazing reality!

  22. Iseli has such great plants. They certainly come at a premium cost. But the plants are top shelf. You are paying for quality. Great picks, excited to see them in the landscape
Edit – Oh you got a Thunderhead! I’m obsessed with those. They’re so dark and almost plush looking. The white new cones are incredible looking. And as you said, they can be shaped in so many ways. Amazing, underrated plant 👍🏻👍🏻

  23. Can’t wait to see them all planted!!!! Beautiful selection! Hard to choose a favorite, maples and that thunder variety evergreen are top three❤

  24. I really like the Mugo pine. It's like a Dr. Seuss tree. They always make me smile. You got quite the haul there and they are beautiful. Good luck planting them!

  25. What a gorgeous selection! My favorite was the second one. I have to go back and screenshot that tag. Super excited to follow along.

  26. Amazing selections…. I can't wait to see where you place them….and also HOW you place them. Those 24" cubes are going to be a beast!

  27. Heaven on Earth! What a blessing! I would love all of them (zone 4b friendly). Iseli is amazing. ❤️❤️❤️
