About 10 days ago I posted about my weird-looking AV. I had reached out to the AVSA for answers and said I would share with this group.
I was lucky to get the expert advice of THE Great Joyce Stork:
'I've never seen such an extreme example of this behavior. The leaves are capable of producing clones near any injured cell, and folks occasionally find tiny plants growing on a leaf near a crack or break. It takes just the right conditions of humidity.
I'm wondering if perhaps your plants got a little too wet when you added water and bagged them. My best guess is that the water pressure inside the plant caused guttation (https://ipm.missouri.edu/MEG/2009/6/Guttation-A-Pressure-Relief-for-Plants/index.cfm) and that the plant reacted like there was an injury to all those leaking veins on the edge of the leaves, and started making clones. I can't think of anything else that makes sense. I'm not sure you could ever make it happen again. It's fascinating to see.
Whatever caused it, I don't think it's disease or pests. The clones won't grow very big until you pop them off and pot them up. They probably won't thrive for long without ample humidity…'
I've attached pictures taken today. It is starting to look 'less weird'.
The plant is Buckeye Sorcerer.

Aaaah I love that she followed up. What a cool freaky AV accident
So freaking cool! Thanks for sharing!
Yessss! Thank you for updating us! This is so cool!
I find it really fascinating that all the clones seem to be variegated also? Whatever is going on it’s really awesome and I’m glad you get to experience it!
If you end up dividing it or just letting it grow to see what it does or whatever, please give another update if possible! I’m so invested! 🤗
That is absolutely amazing and interesting! Had no idea plants could do that.
