i keep my soil mix in a big tupperware container. it has a bunch of holes drilled into the top to avoid mold growth. i recently topped it up with some potting soil and i opened it today to find this white mold coating. do i need to throw all of this away? or should i just throw away the moldy parts and leave it open to air out for a bit?

Smell it, does it smell like regular soil, or bad? If it smells fresh/earthy, thats just mushroom mycelium. Its awesome for your plants, too. If it smells off, probably mold. Just spray it with some hydrogen peroxide, and stick it outside in the sun (no lid) to dry out and sterilize. Mold wont hurt your plants, but if it’s excessive it will compete for nutrients.
Mix it up and leave the top off if you can. It shouldn’t cause any issues to plants.
Powdery mold. Just scrape it off and toss in the garbage lake. No big deal.
Mycelium. Not mold. Beneficial to both plants and soil
