This was helpful. Thank you.
Looks like a great soil can't wait for the growing season
I literally watched your other spil video from a couple years ago lol. I thought this was the same thing but saw it was just uploaded ahhaah
Vermiculite & perlite is magic for my baby potatoes mix. Your mix, Mr. James, will be easy for me & neighbor while dragging grow bags. ❤❤❤❤❤
You have a UK following too mate. Would be awesome to contribute as well. I would love some advice on how to make the most of our wet, compacted clay base soil & acidic green topsoil here in South Wales. My biggest nemesis in the garden have been slugs, so much with your philosophy, I have introduced bird habitats to the garden which have helped but it's still a struggle. My brassicas are being decimated. I worry that I will need to dig up my beds and go against the no dig philosophy I love, to improve my soil and increase aeration. I feel my beetroot seedlings for example cannot penetrate the crust of our soil and simply sit idle and struggling while sending new growth into the world only for it to be devoured by slugs/insects. I feel quite sad to be honest as I invest so much time to the garden and don't see much success. I have tried bird netting and mulching but I don't seem to crack the code. My best performing vegetables are planted in pots and I have established some perennials which seem to be very happy but when it comes to those rewarding annuals planted in my beds, it's really a lottery. I've been wanting to start a proper youtube channel myself so I can reach out to amazing people like you but getting yourself out there is quite scary and I still have so much to learn haha. Anyway, I don't expect a response, it's just good to get the concerns out there I suppose. Thank you for all the amazing content and please keep it up!
🌹Great info🌹
Thank you! It's a bit too early here in Maine. It's snowed yesterday! Go Birds! 🦅🦅
Thank you ❤
Kaget banget di yuttup bahasanya sudah indonesia.. Sangat membantu sekali.. Biasanya paham sedikit2 bahasa inggrisnya😅..trimakasih sangat membantu❤
Sorry, Black Kow, I'll never buy that 'top-rated' product again. It's full of sticks, wood, rocks and sand.
What a great video James!! Love your videos. So informative! I sent this to my wife as well so she can make some of this for our garden instead of having me buy it in a bag from the local HD. BTW. We all sure miss seeing little Tuck.
With good soil you can grow anything, and this is good soil – the gold standard.
If I ever see James in person, i’m just going to yell “COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM JERSEEEEY!”
You are a great help to a lot of people.. but… thanks for the advice to use coconut coir over peatmoss. We can easily do without, and there is a problem worldwide.. Peatmoss is a soil made in thousands of years. It's a very slow proces. It containes more co² then the rainforest. We should leave it in the earth and not take it… thank you. 🙏
Have you ever seen any effects of herbicide contamination from using mushroom compost??
What a good soil for fruit trees when up grading them to a bigger container.
don't use vermiculite that isnt specifically for garden use, could contain asbestos
Love your ideas and enthusiasm. Thank you!
A cubic yard of mushroom compost for $70 USD 🤯 THAT IS A DEAL!!!
Your energy is the type everyone needs! Happy gardening man!🪴
❤😢
Same way I’d make my soil for potted plants. 🪴
I'm new to your channel but I heard about your dog tuck the little King I am so with you I truly feel your pain my dear I don't have a dog I have a cat that passed away he was 19 years old stay strong my dear keep doing what you do in his name tuck the little King❤❤❤
Thank you!!!
Great info James! I am starting to use coco coir this year.
Can't argue with the results…
Tuck❤❤❤
Interesting… To be honest before i would be happy with similar mixes … I was making similar mix but then i really studied it well and then i find out this kind of mix has no sense.. maybe for short time it is possible to use but it can't be used for raised beds and for tree's only for vegetable you can use it …..
If you want to use proper soil you should use similar % such as this : sand 40% perlite 20% peat moss 40% ..in case you need more acid soil just add sulfur ..less acid and more neutral ph you need to change amount of sand from 40 to about 35% and 5% should be ash it will add most minerals needed and will make soil less acid. At the top of your soil you can add some fertilizer(same as you added). That is for sure needed but only at top only That is all.. This will last for years with no problem at all
Future Canoe would call that the Ligma Rake…. It's a thing of beauty
Soils is everything James, I am a fellow zone 7a and found a local recycling center that gives free compost, mulch, wood chips and top soil, I encourage everyone to look around their local community recycling center because mine was free, residents only too, no businesses. 🙂
Followed your recipe more or less to a T, lots of coco coir and perlite, my plants are loving it already!
Mel Bartholomew (Square Foot Gardening creator) would be so proud of you, James! 🌱🌱🌱🌱
recycled video. you did this last year.
I love your recipe for making your own soil. Thank you James for sharing❤
Tuck is forever in our hearts James🐶🐕😎🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Made my own soil this year for transplanting because I’ve had problems with crumbling when taking it out of the cell. Do you have any suggestions to help with this problem?
i also like to use washed sand at 1 part as well
So,you're a genius.
