First time indoor gardener here. I wanted to do something nice for my cat so I decided to grow cat grass. It's been a few days and this started to happen. Not sure if this is normal or not.

looks like it’s pushing up the dirt as it grows. maybe the seeds were planted a little too deep?

They should be rooted well enough to where you can tip and dump out the excess soil. If they stay buried too long they will suffer from high moisture/ humidity and low light

I’ve picked those clumps of dirt off the top. There’s grass underneath.

  4. I find that not burying the seeds at all works best. I soak my seeds for 12 hours and then put them right on top of an inch of soil or so. I put a damp paper towel over the seeds and keep that moist until they sprout.

Make sure a frog didn’t bury itself in there 🤷🏿‍♀️

When that happens I jet some water to break up the soil and it falls back to the base of the seedlings
