Hi there,

To start with I live in London England and am therefore working with cool season grass. It’s spring time here.

I have just had some building work done to my property and then got some landscape gardeners in to sort out the lawn. They have levelled and put down a 4 inch layer of “root zone” before seeding but a 2m x 1m area just hasn’t taken at all.

It seems to be water logged in that are. I last ran the sprinkler more than an hour ago and there is still standing water after a 15minute sprinkle session.

I have put a garden fork in it and it seems hit or miss as to whether I feel something buried. It feels like the fork can’t go more than 6-8 inches in some parts of the waterlogged area.

I would like a sense check as I really don’t fancy digging out a 2m x 1m section right now but I feel that’s the best option. Will need to buy some more root zone to fill the void if anything is removed I guess ?
