My cat never really touches my plants but the moment I got a baby spider from my grandma’s plant, he’s been all over this thing. No matter how far I think it’s out of reach, he gets to it. I’m running out of nicely-lit places to put it because of him. What do I do 😭

put ur plant in a cage, i found a medium sized antique looking bird cage at a garage sale one time and thats where my snake plant lives now because of my cat
Maybe get your kitty some cat grass or another spider plant he can chomp on.
I have sacrificial spider plants for my cats so they dont mess with my nicer looking ones lol. Nothing save putting them extremely high up prevented them from eating them. I gave up once I saw my male cat do parkour to get the plants. Apparently it gets them high and my cats are addicted at this point. Good luck!

Mine is repotted and hanging from the ceiling now after the cat gave it a buzz cut.
My cat does the same. I just put them in places that he can’t get to. I also have one that hangs from my ceiling.
i’ve seen online that cats get a high from spider plants. best to move it where they can’t get to it so fir baby does think they don’t continue with other plants
Now he got it he will go after it with a vengeance. It’s a hallucinogenic for cats. My cats a freaking addict so I have to hang them up high.
There are several places online that sell motion activated sprayers, as in a spray bottle not a garden sprinkler. If your defense needed to escalate you could mix chili powder and water.
I’ve seen people use their spider plant or a palm as a sacrificial cat beat up plant so they don’t mess with the others. Spider plants also get cats high so they are drawn to it!
Hang it from a curtain rod. Put it on a super high shelf. Put it on a high, full shelf. Grow some cat grass and catnip. Put it in a bird cage? I let my cats do their thing if they reach it. They’re just trying to get high. I do hang mine on an empty curtain rod with nothing nearby to jump from.
My cat doesn’t eat ANY of my plants except my spider plant, I think they are mildly psychoactive for them
I’m trying to grow baby spider plants. My boy cat keeps digging them out the soil !! 🤣
Spider plants are THE plant I cannot keep my cats away from, idk why
My cat had half of the plant eaten before I even got it in the door… set it down in the porch as I brought other stuff inside… by the time I returned 5 minutes later, it was mostly stubs. It’s still sad, but alive, 5 years later! It’s been kept in precarious low light locations to keep it out of reach…
I had no idea cats get a high off spider plants! My kid just gave me some of her excess from her terrarium, so I’m going to have to let my cats chew on that and see what happens!
My siblings has 3 cats that all love to antagonize the plants. I suggested safety in numbers and on a shelf. That way the footprint for jumpability to kitty feels non existent. Worked out for them~
I ordered some bitter apple spray, been a few weeks and haven’t seen any new chomps.
I had to hang mine too
Get him his own spider plant or put cat grass next to it maybe. My cat loves parlour palms so I also had to move it out of reach😔
Cry, surround with cacti. Watch that fail, cry again.
I just had to give up on my spider plant… my cats were fiends for it and I couldn’t put it anywhere without them finding a way to it
spider plants are psychoactive for cats that’s why they like it
I gave up and put it in my spare room with the door shut at all times lol
I heard that sometimes you just needs to get more of those pests. May not help your plants, but it tends to make it easier to forget the damage
My now deceased cat LOOOOVED eating my spider plant so much that I’m surprised what remains of the plant is still alive .. barely. Have you considered making it into a hanging basket? I read you can’t put hooks on the ceiling. But may be a flat back container that you can hang from a shelf or use a sturdy curtain rod?
It is very similar to cat grass so maybe get that instead. There have been studies about the effects of chloropythum on cats but they found no evidence of the hallucinogens effect that has been claimed they have
You can get pet and plant safe spray on chewy for cheap that deters them. Problem is if you get it on you you’ll know why the cats detest the spray and it’s hard to get off.
