So I found an African violet on clearance 1.99 vs 5.99 at the grocery store and it seems pretty healthy but in very water retentive medium ( like coconut husk , coco core, peat moss porting soil pearlite ) so idk if I can just leave it to dry out a bit more before watering with all purpose fertilizer 20-20-20 . My goal it to keep it alive untill I can afford to repot it ? Any help would be greatly appreciated

If it’s currently damp, i would cut the blooms off and put it in a ziploc/airtight bag inflated and sealed. Then in a sunny window with indirect light. Don’t even look at it for at least two weeks.
This is essentially icu for violets suffering from stress.
Edit: also if you’re using 20-20-20, dilute it to a quarter of the recommended strength.
I’ve got a couple rescues I love. They are 9 years old now. 🙂
Make sure you quarantine it for a month!

This is a good shape to get things right. It can easily recover. You can remove the buds if you want it to recover faster.
