How are we caring for these? I’ve heard fiddle leafs are pretty fickle.

I bought one as a rehab situation from Lowe’s and didn’t have any trouble with it. I watered it about every 11 days and kept it under a grow light and it did great (until I went on a trip and someone forgot to water it).

    They are SO fickle.

Got mine last year, noticed some rusty brown marks on my leaves within a week. Googled and discovered it’s either edema from watering or spider mite damage. Proceeded to not water to see if it got better…. Turns out spider mites thrive in dry conditions… had an infestation break out.

Treated for weeks, sprayed it outside, used horticultural oil and diatomaceous earth, and cut off the lower leaves to just toss out, thus killing more mites

I won the battle, only for the damn plant to drip every leaf except one.
Got it back up to 3 leaves…. It dropped 2 and the bud shriveled up.

I’m still trying, he’s putting out a new leaf now, and I remember to water him more so that’s good 👍. He’s in a bright sunny window too, so we’ll see what 2025 does.

If you got it from a grocery/box store, definitely look for signs of bugs. YouTube has great videos on identifying, and Reddit ppl are phenomenal

Honestly my rubber tree has been way more fickle than my fiddle leaf fig. Just keep it in the same spot and water it regularly

You must have grabbed the wrong one, the one that makes you crave plants

I’m sure the tree has all the protein you need 😁
