  2. When you buy the seeds, feel the envelope for the seeds. Some are too small to feel, but the larger ones you can. Make sure you are getting a decent amount of seeds in each.

  3. I find the pots at dollar tree are good for small space gardening or on a small patio. And if someone is really tight on a budget, some of those pots are good for a couple of seasons as long as they are well taken care of. Then as one needs to replace them, buy the more expensive pot. And they are great if you need gift ideas and have too much of the same kind of plant. And I had just 1 of those shiny decorations when I had a small patio garden. It helped attract birds and pollinators. So, yes dollar tree is a cheap made item store but great if one is just starting to garden or in a small space.

  4. Well, I still have my solar stakes lights for a few years. I did have to replace a few overtime because they are not water proof. So, in heavy rains they do become corroded. I have a few in my emergencies kits for when we lose power. That way, I don't need to burn candles and have a few outdoor lights in emergency situations if I need them.

  5. The plant clips are AWESOME!!! I use them to train & secure all my vines. I wish I would have bought more. 💙💚💛🧡💜 Liz

  6. I buy a LOT of the wildflower blend and pollinator blend boxes of seeds. I also love the tags. They last a lot longer than popsicle sticks and the old blinds tend to crack. I bought a couple of their small trowels 5 years ago and they are still in new condition and work great. I bought about 50 of their Greenstalk knockoffs 3 years ago for herbs and flowers and they are still in perfect condition. I also bought loads of those plant clips. LOVE them. And their solar lights are much better than people think. I've had the same ones around my herb gardens for 5 years and they are still working good as new. And didn't take batteries. I've got all 3 of those pruners and they work very well. I've been using the hose nozzle with 7 or 8 spray choices for 4 years and it works like new.

  7. Ive been using one of those Dollar Tree Pruners for 7 years and they still work great. I just bought a new better pair this year off amazon. But still have both the needle point and the pruners in my gardening arsenol. And those planters they sell arent bad. Ive got some Ive been using for years. Great for herbs.

  8. Harbor Freight sells an identical saw for a dollar more, better handle and exchange policy.

  9. Another thought I had was, these seed packs are great for "trying" something new or small gardens. For example, I bought a packet of Blue Lake Bush beans. There were maybe 5 viable beans in the pack. Now, they grew just fine and I was able to save seed for following years but there weren't enough beans for a large initial crop. Also, I purchased gladiolus bulbs there as well. For the price point, Dollar Tree bulbs were much more expensive per bulb and a FAR inferior quality when compared to bulbs from Lowes. As a side note, after purchasing scissors, pruners, twine, markers, plant clips, et al from Dollar Tree… head over to Harbor Freight and pick up a plastic, water tight ammo can. It makes for a great little catch all you can leave right in your garden. The larger box is only $8.99 and will hold all of the above mentioned and then some.

  10. im so wise lol i save all my seeds from the last garden season and use the fabric recycling grocery bags as pots 😂 and reuse garden wire i try not to buy enything

  11. I disagree about buying planters at a nursery. The $ store has very good planters this year for $5. Definitely worth the money.

  12. I'm surprised you didn't mention the metal wastebasket to protect the seedlings from critters. I definitely use those.

  13. I went there and bought 20$ worth the seeds its really cool I've been doing that for years and I've had 95% good luck with everything it all grew well and I got tons of veggies from the seeds there really worth it the radishes grow great it's the only radishes I grow every year and I figure there so cheap I plant every two or three weeks and I have radishes for most the summer pretty cool

  14. John, you are so into being the healthiest you can be and teaching us along the way to be the healthiest we can be and I thank you for that, but why are you not concerned about cheap plastics around your beautifully home grown healthy foods? It just seems like those plastics breaking down in your garden and getting into your soil would contradict all your hard work to make your soil super nutrient and healthy.

  15. Good idea! My sister just dropped off 15 packets of seeds she got for free from the local library FYI some cities do that and I got like $50 worth of seeds! Can do it once a month.

  16. Those seeds are cheap for a reason. I tend to get low germination rates and low quality plants from the dollar store seeds. Not saying they're bad in every climate, but they don't work well in my situation. I stick with seeds that don't need too much babying.

  17. I like the pruners.
They have a plant tray with wheels. It makes it easy to clean underneath.
    My bell covers blrw away

  18. Hi John ! I listened to you in this video and went last/this night (it's 3;38am ) I may night owl! I went to get seed packs for myself and for one of my son's friends who started asking me about gardening and I told him things he wanted to know and let him know that you can get free, compost and free mulch, the dump in Brea. I got a truckload last weekend. They didn't have all the seeds if your video showed, but I got quite a bit for him more than for me along with some flower seeds for pollinating. So I wanted to say thank you & I appreciate you sharing this information. I hope you have a great week. Stay safe John take care and I hope to see you this year in Ventura.😀

  19. Thank you so much!! I see Dollar Tree DIY videos all the time on YouTube and Facebook. I'm sure they love the free advertising.

  20. Thanks for the heads up. I went to my closest and most of the seeds were picked through. Bought some beans and peas. Anybody use the stacking tower pots? They look like they need some modifications, such as drain holes. But for $1.25 I might grab a bunch and order strawberry plants. Mount the pots to a board so they don't fall over.
