I’ve been wanting to add an arbor and create “rooms” in my outdoor space. Enjoyed your video on these concepts and I love your garden❣️
Love the singing gardner
Such a great video! I enjoyed it. Thank you Steph
Great ideas!
I love a great arbor. Last year I redid two garden beds switching hostas and day lillies positions to the loss of a tree. In the process. It expanded to around a shed now when I look out to the back yard I have something wonderful to look at even in the winter time. So happy with it. Excited to see how the new planting and transplanting fares cause it didn't happen in prime time transplanting season in zone 6A/B. It happened in the highest heat of summer and in the very late part of September. After which I spent 10 days in the hospital with my c.o.p.d. Hopefully this year is different and I can button up a few more areas. Just have to pace myself a little better.
I was thinking of doing something like this in my little back yard and the visuals in this video were very helpful, thank you!
this was well done and informative
11:34 This one story gave me the idea (and push) to make a special garden area for a beloved cat that has since crossed over. Oh, and here come the tears! 🐈⬛😢
I live in a retirement community with adjoining back yards- like the idea of arbors and a living hedge. Thank you.
I love clearance plants
I absolutely love trellises and want to incorporate a few in my garden. Unfortunately I have found that I can’t dig more than one foot before encountering boulders. It has been so frustrating. I have had absolutely no luck with many projects because of this. Being new to gardening, I have been in the hunt for low root system plants to work around my problem. My other BIG problem- deers and squirrels. Those boogers have jumped my fence and have made me want to quit before I even begin. It’s a true battle.
So many great ideas! My retirement will be very busy and fun 👍☺️❤️☘️💐
Yup! All of it! ❤❤❤
In my area there are several coffee roasters, I am able to get large used coffee burlap bags and use these in the same fashion as your sheet mulching but with the burlap bags instead of cardboard. I have an area on a hill where I've been battling Himalayan blackberries, one area we placed cardboard and the other area the used burlap bags with hog fuel mulch over both. The area with the burlap seems to be smothering the grass and weeds quite well. We dug up most of the Himalayan roots that we could, hopefully these will also be smothered.
Also, LOVE your examples of how to use arbors and that you mention using more than one in your garden/yard. I hope to add another one to a different area of my yard but had second thoughts since I already have one near my front porch.
I really enjoy watching your videos. Your garden areas are gorgeous! You always leave me with an idea or two for my front & backyard. Thank you for sharing your experience. Much appreciated 👍
Hi Steph. I bought & put in a metal arbor two years ago. I want to expand the space in front. I like the cardboard method you use. How long do you leave it before you start planting? I also would want to add maybe some pavers for a bisto table & chairs. Can you put the pavers on top of the cardboard too? I do all my stuff alone so anything to make it easier is great. Thanks
Your episode Cozy Garden make over, how do you winter the bamboo in your planters or do you just replant every year.
Very inspirational! What a beautiful garden.
Thank you i moved to a senior development which I don't have the property that I used to, but I'm looking to make arbors and I came about your site and I love it.Thank you so much for all your great ideas. And I do use cardboard a lot to kill off the grass and everything it works great
So I would like to know what happened to the cardboard do you leave them there and put the mulch on them
I love your ideas! You have a beautiful yard and gardens. 😊
Can’t wait to get outside and work on my yard
