  1. What about the neighbor tying into the new pipe from their downspout?
I know it’s not the paying neighbors problem, but in essence it is- why not run another pipe or two to catch it early.
Maybe the neighbor would even pay for that bit of extra.

  2. Nice work- I’m impressed.
How about coming up to Saginaw County and having a look about my property?

  3. Thanks for an amazingly comprehensive and detailed video.
Having seen my Dad make one drain, I thought I knew — now I see he took every shortcut.
Local “contractors” have no familiarity with French drains — most don’t even know the term. I’ll have to “import” someone. You’re quite right: no dump trailer, no excavator — not the right guy.

  4. Robert thank you for your videos. With your method I installed a 150ft french drain and it was beautiful seeing all the water gush out where the pipe daylighted. I wanted to ask about the rotary laser you placed in the corner. Do you slope it on one axis then on a different axis when turning the corner.

  5. I purchased a home where the previous owner had foundation work done. They didn't properly refill the yard and now the backyard is very low which is a huge problem whenever we get heavy rain. I have to get a lot of dirt to refill the yard to get it back to level. The yard is so low that my drainage pipes are currently above ground. My concern is even if I have the perfect drainage slope, when I add dirt to fill the yard the pipes will shift and I might lose the slope. Any tips for how to keep the pipes steady in place while I fill the yard with dirt to cover the pipes?

  6. Do you work in northeastern Illinois? I tried finding someone via Home Depot, and we couldn't find anyone to do a French drain.

  7. I had years of flooding in my basement in SE Michigan. Mostly due to poor property drainage. 6 months ago I built a 200ft French drain using high octane pipe. I built my French Drain using all French Drain Man materials, and followed his instructional videos. My sump pump rarely goes off now. Most of the water gets diverted off my property before it has time to enter and overwhelm my drain tile system. Thank You French Drain Man!

  8. I'm in desperate need of help with my yard. We just purchased a house in Lansing, MI and the negative slope in our backyard is wreaking havoc in our basement. We'd love for you to come out to take a look or recommend someone if you could.

  9. Smarter, not harder! Bend your knees, not your back! Think About What you're doing! There's no job worth getting hurt! Gosh I hear myself,,,,,thanks, FD!

  10. 00:39 appears that smaller gravel was used near the catch basin. If so, what was the reason? (Maybe the bucket scooped up gravel at different spot in gravel pile, b4 heading to the trench & there just happened 2b a lot more smaller stone in that spot than larger stone in the mix?)

  11. You guys have it going on….looks like about $4000 worth of protective mats.
Are you having a hard time finding labor?

  12. Love it! Could you do a video on how to price it? I just want to see if I’m missing anything on our end. We charge hourly rate plus materials x 66%

  13. Man this is awesome work, I just built a pole barn that is about 30 feet from my house which sits up on a hill…the barn is lower than the house and water is seeping under the gravel in the barn floor….im hoping something like this will solve my problem im just trying to figure out how and where to start.

  14. Only other thing I want from this video is footage of the system in action. Wish I could get you guys to come out to Missouri, we could use something like this.
