It’s a pest problem…most likely a bite-osaurus, it spreads fast and it’s super hard to contain….
MikeCheck_CE
I dunno about the rips, but your pot is definitely an issue. It cannot drain excess water anywhere. You should have an inner nursery pot inside your decorative pot so one can drain into the other.
Putting it directly on a heating vent will also cause leaf damage due to insufficient humidity.

I have one that lives in a shady part of my yard in the warm spring summer and fall. I accidentally let it get hail damaged. Locks just like that.

So, is it a cat, dog, or kid- not the goat variety. Unless you have a goat 𤨠in which case I’m going to need to see a picture.

When my plant starts not looking good, I take a picture of it and go to the co-op and ask them if they know what is the matter with it and most of the time they can tell me. I have looked up online before and that time I found out my plants had aphids. Aphids are no fun and are hard to get rid of. I tried water with Castile soap but itās not working on my poinsettia so I am going to get some Diatomaceous earth and sprinkle that all over the plant. That oughta take care of the plant.

I’m so glad this got posted. Mine don’t look like this but some I’ve gotten at local plant swaps do and I could never figure out what the heck was had happened to them. š

I forget the name of this pest but the treatment is foster care. You can have an IPM of condoms, birth control, or plan B. Some people have been successful with the pullout method but I wouldnāt suggest it.
