We put in a pool last year and had to completely regrade and seed the lawn afterwards. They put down seed then seed blanket with straw, but the seed didn't take in some areas, specifically areas that are generally wetter than others. So now I have to figure out what to do with these areas, especially because the mesh and straw is still there.
The soil under the straw and mesh is pretty moist and soft, but it is covered in mesh and straw as you can see in the photos.
Should I seed on top of this and cover with more soil? Try to rip it up to get seed underneath the straw that's still there? I'm at a bit of a loss, any ideas are appreciated!

First of all get that netting out of there or you’re going to be pulling out of your lawnmower blades for the rest of your life. It’s also a massive trip hazard liability. It never degrades (even though it’s advertised to for some reason, I don’t know how they’re allowed to say that it does)
Then throw down seed, rake to loosely mix it into the soil, and regular straw mulch.
I always joke that “usually if you put a bunch of plastic on the ground, it’s called littering”
Pregerminate seed, spread seed, overlay with a thin amount of good soil, then keep moist for the next 2 weeks. Done.
More seeds, however… the seeds might have failed because of your soil chemistry or condition. Better to buy sod instead.
What am I looking at? Lol
I took out a pool last year. All you need to do it bring in top soil to grade. Then bring in some compost for top dressing. Seed, fertilizer, lime, sow, WATER. Cover with lawn straw if you feel the need. But covering with the netting is only used on a STEEP hill. Also really only seen it used by construction companies that will not be returning to care for the grass on a steep hill. Also you now need to get all that netting up or else it will get tangled up in the mower blades.
Fall is the ideal time to grow grass and spring is the ideal time to control weeds and condition soil. But you can fix dead patches in the spring. Ideally before April. But go ahead and see what happens.
To fix those spots:
Step 1: remove netting
Step 2: rake up straw
Step 3: top dress with leaf compost
Step 4: starter fert, quality seed, lime
Step 5: keep wet
