I consider myself a frugal, and financially responsible person. I do a good job refraining from buying things I don’t need, and I am not a materialistic person. However, I started becoming interested in house plants about a year ago and now I own about 30 different house plants and some carnivorous plants as well.
I’m not spending more than my monthly budget I’ve set for myself, or being financially irresponsible, but gosh darn it, I love buying house plants that catch my eye and look cool.
I just picked these two beauties up today and thought I’d share my finds with everyone as I love this community and I love seeing everyone else’s plant collections, I also feel like I learn so many cool things in this subreddit.
Anyways, I’m grateful I found this subreddit and my new found love for plants.
Cheers!

You’ve come to the right place ! These two are gorgeous – enjoy your new plant babies.
Welcome to the club. My wallet would be a lot happier if I didn’t love collecting plants so much 😅
Same
i’m in the EXACT same situation as you! interest started one year ago, turned into a hobby, then my entire life. i got an alocasia dragon scale and begonia benigo it the same time too which is an insane coincidence! 27 plants and counting. i spend way too much money on them. but they keep me sane
You are NOT alone!!!🤣🌱🌱🌱🌱
I have a rule. The only house plants I get new are either traded , purchased as a small sprout, or from a cutting from another. Keeps my budget low and gives me some pride
I’m the same. I tell myself I have enough, no more plants right now, and it lasts like a week. 😬 I just gave five away to my daughter and today I repotted some little starts together in a larger pot so that means I can buy more now, right?
Totally valid
I got same one on the left today at Home Depot only rang up at $9.99 instead of 19.99 🤷♂️ Not that I’m complaining 😁
Plants 🌱 are ❤️
I’m the same way and actually own very little apart from plants. There’s nothing wrong with that and those two are gorgeous!
If you want to offset some spending grow cuttings and sell on marketplace 😉
I went on a hunt for a specific one tonight that I had a lead on. Told myself that was going to be the only one I would get if I found. Readers, I came home with two others and no plant I was looking for 😆
Me too I just bought the same ones from Walmart. And I’m obsessed with buying the half dead ones. They generally take one week to get them back to good health.
i bought about 20 plants for myself & finally stopped.. my mother just bought 5 off an online auction 🧍🏽♂️ i guess we never stop forreal
You don’t have a problem until you bring the plants you just bought to work, to hide them from your family. At least, that’s what I would assume. Not that I’ve done it or anything. I definitely haven’t done it.
I like the variety here, and I love begonias!
I’ve crossed a few wishlist plants off my looooooooong list. I recently picked up a thai constellation monstera, philo pink princess, philo white wizard, dragon scale alocasia, alocasia rugosa, purple oxalis, and a krimson queen hoya. So in love with my own personal jungle 💜
