Started bottom left when I moved in, but my vision was that I'd have shrubs eventually filling the space. It looked an absolute state for a while (bottom right) while I built a bin store, killed the grass, and waited for the ground to be soft enough to dig – as it's quite clay-heavy and full of stones so summer digging is out of the question once the ground hardens! Still early days, but now (top) it's all dug over and planted up, with bark to hopefully help keep the grass at bay until the plant are more established. Most plants are brand new this month so I will have to be patient letting them grow bigger/spread and will add more as and when I see a space remaining. I'm new to gardening but have a few little projects planned for the rest of my grass – including a possible clover "lawn" and wildflower area. This will definitely be a learning curve as I'm sure I've made mistakes with planting, but it's a start!
