In this video, I give you the results from our 4-month electroculture experiment, where I see if you can grow bigger and better vegetables in the garden using electricity and energy from the atmosphere using copper antennas. The setup video is: https://youtu.be/WyHUZCGhgZY?si=mMymiKFsWXbrPWSk

  1. Quite funny, Marc – I could imagine it becoming a Tik Tok trend!! The emergency rooms would be overwhelmed with electrified gardeners! Be interested to see you make a chili jam, might be able to share that recipe with other aspiring preservationists! Enjoy your garden!

  2. Tried it making a bunch of copper coils. Didn't see a difference. Some critter had to have run off with my coils. I only had a few left out of about 75. Guess something likes shiny things😂. I do notice when there's lightning storms, things take off pretty good.

  3. Never heard of this. When you planted it i thought you were looking to bring in Lightning from a storm 🤔 😅

We watch your vids from Southern NSW. The 6 kids love it.

We do have a nature YouTube channel

  4. G'Day Sgt Major!
Many ancient people observed that plants grew much better a few days after a thunder / lightning storm and so the obvious "truism" came about that electricity, in itself, was the source for the suddenly much better growing of all plants, especially the most noticeable vegetable foods.

Centuries later the actual solution finally came to light when it was found out that lightning caused free Nitrogen in the atmosphere to chemically bond with the rain water ("Nitrogen Fixing") to create a naturally formed liquid fertilizer. 2 or 3 days after the lightning had done it's work and the rainfall had been taken into the plants there would be a very noticeable general greening of plant leaves along with growth spurts in the plants, flowers and, of course, veggies.

And so the old myth evaporated and Nitrogen fertilizer was known for what it is today.

  5. could it just be the addition of some copper, as it reduces algae etc, dropping a few pieces of copper in my hydroponics killed off all the algae in 2 days.

Also it will react with iron electrically and could break down the steel beds, especially the cheap ones

  6. Bit of a weak video Mark, I'm sorry to say. The science behind this just isn't there. It's quackery.

  7. You need to try raised beds made of metal… There is nothing that can capture more electricity than raised beds made of metal… They act as HUGE antennas… Solid metal on the raised beds will capture a millions times more electro-goodness than the pitiful copper wires you used. People that grow in raised beds made of metal can rapidly grow a thousand times more produce than a raised wooden bed… Oh… Wait… You are growing in raised beds made out of metal?

Yeah… It’s total bullshit mate… Absolute rubbish and I am having a hard time understanding why you would even consider such an incredibly stupid bit of hokum to try… Gardners have grown in metal beds, used metal wire/fence for trellises, used metal T posts and all sorts of metal around plants for centuries… Has it made any difference? Oh fuck no… Do we see more fertility under power lines with metal towers? No… Do we see more fertility in the ground surrounding power stations? No… Electro-culture… That’s one of the stupidest things I have heard in awhile and Taterhead Trump is my fucking moron President (and that fucker is insanely stupid)…

If you want to try an experiment, try making horn compost or some of the other things from biodynamic practices… Some swear by them, some just seem like hokum… Some might be interesting enough for a video. Best wishes.

  8. Hi I’m one of your subscribers for a couple of years now and from Ponchatoula, Louisiana in the Deep South. We have a subtropical climate also like y’all do. This is off subject, but I was wondering if you test your soil Ph and for nutrients? I was just curious because you’re such a tremendous gardener. I use the test strips at times. Especially for acid loving plants because my soil tends to be pretty alkaline here. Could you please let me know on how far do you go as far as testing. Do you go as far as sending in soil samples to get more accurate results? Thanks and love your accent and videos a lot! God bless you and your family 😊

  9. If I was do this experiment here in Florida, it would likely attract more lightning strikes than we already get. Way too many storms, lightning, and thunder here!

  10. The lady bug we have here in America is a carnivore. I can only assume yours is different being in Australia. Ours eat aphids and are beneficial. Great video Mark .

  11. Defo doesn’t seem to be any harm doing experiments to begin with that other people might consider to be amateurish. I imagine that’s where most people would start anyway (perhaps even the researchers & professionals at some point!), & perhaps this is better anyway to help getting an initial idea of whether there’s likely to be any difference in either direction, before spending more money/ time/ effort etc. on something that initial experiments might show to be completely worthless. Plus, surely experimentation adds to people’s enjoyment of their gardening activities anyway!

  12. It seems like a lot of work for not that much results.
Love the puns though, I feel super-charged after watching this 🙂
