I have these sitting in my prop container for a while now(about 2 months) They look to be well rooted but I'm clueless about african violet propagation. Do I repot them now?(they are currently in 2-2.5 inch pots) Do I remove the big leaf? Are they safe to come out of the prop container? Any advice is appreciated.

Looks like you’ve got multiple crowns in just about every pot there.

A crown is basically a central point the leaves fan away from. So when you see some of the leaves going in opposite directions, you know you’ve got more than one.

You want to separate crowns, leave roots attached if possible, and repot each crown in its own small pot. You may need to tent them if the roots are weak or a crown has no roots.

If during this process the mother leaf is still attached to a crown, you can leave it on. If not, it’s no big deal. Leaving it on may mean that one grows more crowns, though.

They look pretty young still, so you can wait to separate them until they’re a little bigger. You have quite a few pups in there, so be prepared for a big haul! Typically I separate mine when they have 5 leaves each, or look like they will fit comfortably into a 2in pot. Realistically if you don’t overwater them, you can separate them now, but don’t feel rushed to do so. pups can cohabitate for quite some time before they start dominating their space

If any are ready now, and you’re excited to do so, then the bottom left corner could be first, then the top left next!

  3. Those look great. I cleaned up my violets a couple weeks ago and have a whole bunch of leaves in media. Hoping for a few to look so good.
