Everything looks great and progressing so quickly! I like not painting the doors for now because it’s cute either way. I agree that you can always paint them later if you change your minds. Wonderful work both of you! 🥰
Hey, just fyi and not trying to be critical at all because I love these vids but I would say just be careful about exposing yourself to the VOCs in paint when you're pregnant – the NHS recommends that you avoid it, but obviously completely your decision what you decide to do! 💜. The house looks amazing so far!
I’d keep the doors wooden and I’d carry the blue theme into the top room. I think the bunk beds would look lovely in a dark cool toned red with some other red accents in that room. Loving these vlogs 🥰
Think it’s called a valance , Alex , that sheet / edging material around the bottom of the bed 😊
I love the blue trim, my vote is to paint the doors to match. Everything will look so cohesive! 🙂
You need to put a pretty painting inside that niche.❤
I think the doors would 100% look better painted. It looks unfinished unpainted and would look so cool and seem less painted
Oh man Alex, i knew exactly what u meant about bits of paint when u have done everything correctly grr 😡I think it is the roller but who knows??
Nice work u ppl😊
Line your paint tray with foil or cling film or buy a plastic insert from B & Q.
What about a navy blue for the upstairs. So its still cohesive but different?
Very nice. You are doing really well and yes it is really overwhelming. Love the blue and off white mix. 😊
The one bed that was up against the house I would clear that out and maybe just put some pretty gravel in there. So water can drain through it, but I would not put plants in there because you’ll keep watering them and I don’t know what the water would do to your foundation? ❤ or you could keep the dirt there and get all the plants out and then try to find some really big pretty rocks just to place every so often in there as a pretty focal point.
You’re doing an excellent job on the landscaping outside!❤ The furniture looks nice.
Just my opinion, but I would not put a coffee table in there. It takes up too much room. I would try to find an end table to put at the end of couch with a lamp. You are right if you got a pouf…You could use it with a little tray as an end table beside that one chair And then if you need it …you could move it out.
I think the shelves are making the room look small, crowded. I think shelves somewhere on the wall would be better.❤
For me personally, I love the idea of a blue door and frame. I feel the orange door against the blue frame, because they're opposite on the color wheel, make the hallway feel choppy or like a checkerboard. I agree, when its that beautiful turn-of-the-century milky-toned pine then its lovely, but the pine doors come off more orange to me. Just my two cents. Whatever you do, what's most important that you love it. I love that blue. True Farrow and Ball fan here. Have it throughout my home.
The blue trim was a good idea. I think something local or a painting of a beach scene would look lovely over the fireplace on your stone wall. You may want to consider a dull mustard color or a peachy hue for an accent color. Either would look charming. Good luck.
When decorating a home Especially a smaller home, and in the main rooms, if you keep the same or similar wall colours ( even if adding a patterned wall paper; paying attention to the background colour) similar flooring, and a similar trim throughout, you will have more continuity from room to room. This will help too, to make the house feel more spacious and help with flow through the house.
Each room can be a different colour, but colours can come from accessories in the room such as soft furnishings; ie curtains, throw cushions , rugs. Don’t forget to add in different textures as well.
You can and still should use contrast to add homeiness ,
The trick is to do the same or similar in each room.
I hope this helps you in your journey. I love your cottage. That is my dream home type. You have everything looking lovely.
I think the shot from the window really solidifies your colour choices – so much white and blue and then the sand from the beach kind of matches the unpainted doors! Makes me wonder if for the 2nd floor, a sort of seafoam green could be good to bring out the other colours from the sea that you can see from the window?
It's probably too late for me to say this but for the lounge room, I feel like the walls should be a light bluish grey to blend in with the grey stones.
Changing the doorknobs would make a big difference to the look of the doors as well.
I would definitely leave the doors as they are! The contrast is really nice!
I would definitely leave the doors as they are! The contrast is really nice!
Love the way everything is coming together! What about, for example, a statement wall with stripes somewhere in the house? Since it’s a vacation home and people will only be staying there for a few days at a time, you can go a little bold and creative!

Hi, we are the previous owners of Kittiwake and it is absolutely wonderful to see what a brilliant job you are doing on the house. Well done!!! We loved our time at Kittiwake and it's great to see you enjoying it.
Look forward to future episodes. Love the white and blue colours. Glad you decided to keep the tiles in the kitchen!
Yes, leave the top bedroom wood with the blue up the stairs and bottom of rail and do yellow in the kitchen. Its one of the first rooms you are in, in the morning and yellow is cheery and brite in waking you up🌼
I think you are making a mistake painting all the woodwork. It looks nice as it is and now you will have to forever keep on top of that paintwork.
I really enjoy watching both of you and enjoy your renovation vlogs especially, but wanted to leave a comment in support of Alex's lone-vlogging! It was really relaxing to watch/listen to, and very interesting too. Loved the calm music. You're both doing an excellent job on the cottage, and I look forward to watching future episodes!
