The Greenstalk Vertical Planter is a space-saving solution for growing your own fresh salads at home. Here’s a guide to help you get started:
Choosing Your Salad Greens: Opt for leafy greens like lettuce (romaine, butterhead, or leaf varieties), spinach, arugula, kale, or even microgreens. These plants thrive in the Greenstalk’s compact tiers.
Prepare the Planter: Assemble your Greenstalk Vertical Planter as instructed. Ensure it’s placed in an area that gets at least 6 hours of sunlight daily. If outdoors, choose a sheltered spot to protect from strong winds. If indoors, near a sunny window or under grow lights works well.
Soil and Watering: Fill each tier with high-quality potting soil that has good drainage. Salad greens appreciate soil rich in organic matter, so adding compost or a slow-release fertilizer can boost growth. The Greenstalk features a unique watering system—simply fill the top reservoir, and water will trickle down evenly to all layers.
Planting Seeds or Seedlings: Sow seeds directly into the soil at the recommended depth or transplant seedlings for quicker results. Space them appropriately to avoid overcrowding, allowing room for each plant to grow.
Maintaining Your Salad Greens:
Water Regularly: Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. The Greenstalk’s design helps you achieve this efficiently.
Fertilize Occasionally: For sustained growth, a diluted liquid fertilizer every few weeks can be helpful.
Monitor Pests: Watch for aphids or snails. Use eco-friendly methods to deter pests if necessary.
Harvesting: Most salad greens can be harvested multiple times. Pick outer leaves regularly to encourage new growth, or snip the entire plant if needed. Fresh greens typically grow back within a few weeks.
Growing salads in a Greenstalk Vertical Planter is a rewarding and sustainable way to enjoy healthy, homegrown meals.

Hi Ivan. Really enjoying your videos they are very informative. Could I ask you where did you get the large square bottom watering tray from and what size is it please.
Thanks for sharing Ivan.
❤🌞❤️
Where would get one of these planters please cheers Ivan
Thats lovely planer but bit on the pricey side. It would be great for strawberries and hopefully your salad.
Thanks Ivan, they do look like a great growing system. Take care and all the best. Stevie
i have got one of these as well- just to try this year. Was wondering about slugs – have you found them invading much? would it be worth putting copper tape around the bottom container to add protection?
Very good idea. Keep the videos coming
Try putting a stick or pencil up through the bottom hole in the plug pots to push out the plants.
Saves pulling on the plants with the risk of breaking them off.
Great video Ivan , you give us all great ideas for the planting in pots. 😊
